A Day In The Life
The Director, Variable Sales Operations, will lead a high-performing team focused on delivering best-in-class support for all aspects of variable sales operations. This position is responsible for supporting the development and execution of strategies to achieve GST's annual new vehicle sales plan. Working closely with leaders across strategy, finance, and key departments, the Director will help shape and implement initiatives that are cohesive, actionable, and aligned with GST's broader objectives.Key responsibilities include coordinating cross-functional efforts, ensuring accountability for delivering results, and driving the tactical execution of sales strategies to support GST's goals. Additionally, the Director will collaborate with peers across the organization to enhance field operations and dealer performance. These efforts aim to advance GST's strategic initiatives, including growth, market share expansion, and strengthening relationships with dealer partners to deliver an exceptional customer experience.This role requires a strategic mindset, strong executional capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively within a complex organizational framework.

As a Director, Variable Sales you will:

Business Acumen & Strategic Execution:

  • Own and lead end-to-end strategy execution by guiding the team from strategic planning through implementation, with a focus on cross-functional alignment, including dealer networks, timeline discipline, and delivering targeted business outcomes.
  • Develop and execute new vehicle sales strategies aligned with GST's business goals, partnering with District Sales Managers (DSMs), dealer partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Translate enterprise and regional strategy into focused operational plans, aligning functional initiatives with performance objectives.
  • Optimize field operations by integrating digital tools, performance insights, and resource planning to improve execution efficiency and sales impact.

Continuous Improvement & Optimization:

  • Drive a culture of innovation and operational excellence by continuously identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance customer and dealer experience.
  • Lead transformation efforts by introducing scalable solutions and integrating emerging technologies to future-proof operations.

Performance Ownership:

  • Ensure accountability for sales targets, dealer network KPIs, and key performance metrics such as GPP, market share, and execution consistency.
  • Monitor performance through a data-driven lens and proactively resolve business challenges to ensure measurable outcomes.

Influencing & Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as a trusted leader and collaborator across TMNA, TFS, GSFS, and internal teams to champion alignment and advance strategic priorities.
  • Communicate clearly across organizational layers to secure buy-in, manage expectations, and ensure cohesive execution.

People Leadership & Talent Development:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing, engaged team with clear expectations, feedback, and development planning.
  • Build a strong leadership pipeline by mentoring direct reports and creating an inclusive, feedback-rich, and learning-oriented culture.
  • Oversee departmental resource planning, budget management, and succession readiness.

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of experience in the field or in a related area or possess an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Proven ability to lead, build, and develop high-performing teams, influence stakeholders, execute effectively, and drive positive organizational change.
  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills with the ability to manage and deliver on multiple initiatives or projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated success in translating strategy into action, executing complex initiatives, and driving measurable business outcomes in a dynamic, cross-functional environment
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and connect with diverse audiences.
  • Skilled in teaching, coaching, and facilitating learning to develop others and foster team growth.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset with the ability to envision and execute strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Comprehensive understanding of dealership operations and the automotive sales environment

Physical and Environmental RequirementsThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. .The associate must frequently move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds. The job requires significant domestic travel (50% of the time). As a result, the duties for this position occur in various places including, but not limited to an office environment, car dealerships, and semi-industrial settings. The associate will regularly be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, areas in which moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals are present, and outside weather conditions. The noise level for this position will vary and the associate may be exposed to loud noise levels.

Travel Requirements
50% The associate is frequently required to travel to other sites, including out-of-state, where applicable, for business. A large amount of this travel involves driving a company vehicle.
