JOB DESCRIPTION

The Project Leader - Digital Manufacturing Portfolio is a key leadership and execution role for delivering outcomes that are aligned with the Global Information Services (GIS) and enterprise Global Operations Leadership Council (OLC). The role is critical to the success of the digital manufacturing transformation organization and will drive transparency of the entire digital project portfolio for our businesses, ensuring compliance with the upcoming Strategic Portfolio management process, provide insights to prioritize resource globally and ensure execution of the enterprise large scale projects portfolio. This position is designed to lead Owens Corning's largest top digital project initiatives, which requires strong execution focus, significant change leadership, and broad understanding of business processes. The project portfolio manager must have a proven track record of execution and has demonstrated the ability to effectively communicate and influence others, including senior leadership. In addition, this role has accountability for the overall success of enterprise level projects and is accountable to ensure the business outcomes of those projects are realized and sustainable. A successful incumbent will provide leadership through enabling the business strategy and driving the information system principles that are core to the GIS organization.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowing Our Businesses and their Strategies



  • Build relationships within the organization, cross-functionally, and with key business stakeholders; continuously enhance connection to remain aligned with core objectives.
  • Understand the strategic direction of the company's businesses and execute project strategies to enhance business results; lead conversations while setting direction for the team and projects
  • Know what best-in-class project management organizations do and obtain outside-in market insights to understand and then apply to positively impact Owens Corning.



Executing Strategy



  • Enterprise Project Portfolio Leadership - Build ONE enterprise digital portfolio encompassing the initiatives for three Owens Corning' businesses : create transparency of projects, resources allocated, milestones, timeline leveraging the upcoming launch of strategy portfolio management process within GIS. Master portfolio health understand in real time of the active portfolio (e.g. running projects, milestones tracking, roadblock escalation).


  • Leads / Impacts globally and/or large cross-functional project teams, spanning across Owens Corning's business and corporate initiatives, ensuring the successful delivery of the project outcomes and efficient management of resources. In addition will play consultative role as a visible leader with diverse stakeholders including senior leadership within OC, OLC & digital business champions, and drives integrated milestones for various workstreams.


  • Enterprise Project Capability Development - Educate on and apply existing capabilities, processes, and tools that can aid the successful delivery of a project - such as project charter, resource planning, portfolio management, change management, deployment implementation. This individual will also help evolve new project and portfolio management processes, standards, training and execution in support of the company's overall business strategies.


  • Communicate to inform, escalate and influence - Influences at the most senior level in the company, the Digital Manufacturing Directors, business partner in finance, and the digital business champions to track progress of the different enterprise projects. Maintain transparency to project status, current focus areas, and success metrics for active projects to ensure momentum and focus, and escalate when projects are not on track. Proven change leader who drives large-scale change with a constant eye for change management


  • Leading and Developing Talent - Builds high performing project teams and works with all Leaders to develop and engage team members according to growth plans. In addition, coaches, mentors, and recognizes growth and development opportunities of all team members and stakeholders of all projects under their direction.


  • Manage Relationships with External Partners - Builds and grows external partners' capacity to augment achievement of business outcomes and provide innovative solutions to drive step change.


  • Follow Through on Commitments and Promises - Organize, plan and set priorities based upon deadlines, timelines and what is considered most critical and beneficial for Owens Corning. Set the best course of action and aggressively implement plans to achieve timely and efficient results. Promote reliability and dependability by follow-through and verification that the needs of others are satisfied.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in MIS or a related discipline is required; an MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of project management experience including the management of large scale, enterprise-wide projects; including initiatives with global reach, technology, processes, cross-functional teams and partner team members


  • 7 years' experience in manufacturing or equivalent experience with proficient-to-advanced understanding of manufacturing process
  • 2-5 years of full project lifecycle experience; ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.



EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Experience working with cross-functional teams that include third party expertise


  • Aptitude to build strategic and execution-focused plans and alliances with partner leadership.
  • Abilities to synthetize complex list of activities into a comprehensive and simple portfolio.
  • Strong execution discipline and structure
  • Experience working in a PMO environment with an established governance process.
  • Training and application of industry best practice processes and tools regarding the effective management of projects, including, but not limited to, scope, schedule, cost, resource, change management, and risk/issue management.
  • Experienced with business operations;aptitude / desire to grow in the knowledge of the Owens Corning business; conveyance of business acumen to project team members.
  • Experienced with managing complex scope change control processes and detailed/large budget management
  • Effective communications - planning and execution of communications for stakeholders, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn the business, know technology, and lead change.
  • Consultative Skills - ability to influence business partners in their decision-making. Shape solutions by helping partners articulate what is needed to deliver required outcomes.
  • Effective collaboration in cultural and geographically diverse teams.
  • Ability to travel 10 - 15%
