About the role

The Tax Strategy Director plays a key role in shaping tax outcomes for strategic business initiatives. This position provides expert tax guidance on complex transactions, including reinsurance, entity structuring, and legislative changes, across federal, state, and international jurisdictions. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to evaluate and optimize the tax and financial impacts of proposed actions, supports implementation for compliance and reporting, and shares insights across tax and finance functions.

What you will do



  • Contribute to cross-functional strategic projects by evaluating and advising on tax impacts of proposed business initiatives across U.S. federal, state, and international jurisdictions (e.g., Bermuda, Japan, OECD Pillar Two).
  • Review and advise on transaction documents and treaties, using external advisors and subject matter experts as needed.
  • Prepare tax accounting policy memos and supporting documentation for project conclusions.
  • Support tax operational teams in the execution and implementation of transactions and strategies.
  • Collaborate with financial planning teams to enhance tax modeling for U.S. GAAP, statutory, Bermuda regulatory, cash flow forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Monitor tax legislative and regulatory developments, participate in industry committees, and communicate key updates to internal leadership.
  • Assist in modeling and implementing changes resulting from new tax laws and regulations.
  • Identify and develop tax planning opportunities, including those related to deferred tax asset (DTA) valuation allowances and admissibility, and present findings to leadership to support business decisions.

Compensation

Salary Range: $137,500 - $229,200 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

Who You Are:



  • You have a high school diploma (required) and a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, preferably with a strong quantitative background.
  • You bring 10-15 years of tax experience, including at least 10 years in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of U.S. insurance company taxation and statutory accounting, particularly for reinsurance transactions.
  • You are familiar with Bermuda corporate income tax and OECD Pillar Two regimes (strongly preferred).
  • You understand the insurance and reinsurance industry and relevant accounting frameworks.
  • You demonstrate strong knowledge of U.S. and international tax laws and regulations applicable to insurance companies and consolidated groups.
  • You excel at analyzing complex financial and technical information and synthesizing it into clear, actionable insights.
  • You are skilled in reviewing and interpreting transaction documents and treaties.
  • You collaborate and communicate effectively across teams and leadership levels.
  • You manage time efficiently, handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • You possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to develop practical, strategic recommendations.
  • You have advanced computer skills, especially in Excel, Word, tax compliance software, and research databases.
  • You can work independently with general direction and demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous learning.
  • CPA, MBA, or FSA designation is preferred.
  • Experience with sidecars and Bermuda reinsurance solutions is a plus.
