The Role: We are looking for our next Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer within our Methocel team in Plaquemine, Louisiana. The E& I engineer will be the key focal point for electrical and instrumentation support with the Methocel production facility. This position is located in Plaquemine, Louisiana (USA) Compensation: The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $88,000-119,000. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location. What You'll Do:
- Support overall unit electrical power and instrument systems.
- Assist operations and maintenance with troubleshooting instrument and electrical problems.
- Safely implement identified improvements in the E&I space using the Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Act as main I&E liaison with Engineering Contractor for all projects in order to ensure site policies, procedures, standards and specifications are met.
- Write or approve project scopes.
- Mark and approve all I&E drawings.
- Establish and maintain installation details and standards.
- Represent business unit at Process Hazard Analysis
- Participate as an active member of unit technology team in order to develop and implement long range plans for instrument and electrical improvements.
- Provide instrument and electrical checkout and start-up support of facilities to meet production and business needs.
- Guide and train area personnel on instrument and electrical technologies.
- Create and maintain related documentation, files, procedures, databases, drawings and schematics.
- Provide overall technical guidance to Electrical Specialists and I&E Area Resources on electrical and power distribution issues.
- Support site on electrical classification analysis.
- Support, maintain, and improve site electrical distribution systems to include Motor Control Centers, Transformers, and other medium voltage applications (480V).
- Provide technical support for PLC and VFD repairs and upgrades.
- Perform job duties in a manner that follow food safety and quality guidelines including but not limited to HACCP, GMPs, QA Policies, Sanitation, and Pest Control.
What You'll Need: Education:
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year college or university.
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the chemical manufacturing industry is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to design, troubleshoot and support area electrical & instrument systems and infrastructure.
- Excellent communications/interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated strengths in getting results, meeting commitments & problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of I&E drawings including electrical schematics, loops, logic diagrams, and P&I diagrams with documentation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical principles, technologies, codes and standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge Electrical distribution and power systems experience required for this position include Motor Control Centers, Drives, Inverters, and other related 480V systems.
Work Environment
- This role spends approximately 50% of the time in an office environment and 50% of the time in the plant environment. (manufacturing only)

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; work in hot, cold and loud environments. Employee must be able to wear a respirator.(manufacturing only)
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position. Days and flexible hours of work are required to meet facility demands.
Business Travel:
- Work location is primarily Plaquemine, Louisiana although travel to other sites may be required on occasion.
- Occasional international travel may be expected.
