Engineering Project Manager 1

Job Description/Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Supports Operations and maintenance capital improvements through planning, execution and closeout of assigned projects within established budget and schedule. Responsible for acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members, including contractors and consultants, to deliver project according to plan. Provides oversight, leadership, direction and resources to the project staff. Provides engineering support as needed to operations and maintenance activities to meet processing requirements, outage activities.
  • Leads the planning and implementation of a project while facilitating the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables utilizing the ProjectSolutions project management compliance matrix.
  • Manages preparation and approval of all applicable project documentation and ensures project scope is accomplished within schedule and budget.
  • Communicates with project stakeholders on a routine basis.
  • Identifies and manages scope change and ensures changes to Statement of Work are documented and communicates those changes to procurement and management.
  • Updates baseline budget and schedule.
  • Tracks project cost and communicates spend forecast management and accounting.
  • Ensures that all activities are performed safely and in accordance with applicable Department of Transportation, Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Occupational Safety & Health Administration standards, state requirements and all applicable procedures, permits and licenses by verbatim compliance to applicable project documentation.
  • Ensures project staff performs all activities safely and are committed to a safe and accident-free working environment.
  • Responsible for all aspects of a small project or phases of a larger project.
  • Performs stress and strain calculations for hoisting and rigging non-standard lift plans and load securement plans.
  • Performs engineering evaluations to support replacement of plant systems and components.
  • Performs engineering review of operations and or maintenance work plans and instructions.
  • Supports maintenance in the development of maintenance plans for newly installed or replaced systems and components.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements/Skills

  • Intermediate computer skills, including the use of Mechanical Equipment design software (AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office
  • Basic knowledge of functional discipline and its practical application
  • Basic knowledge of industry codes and regulations
  • Basic communication and interpersonal skills

Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; handle, grip, and reach above or below shoulder
  • Ability to use hands and feet to accomplish tasks as assigned
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend/stoop, crouch, kneel and twist at the waist
  • Ability to effectively communicate; pass audiogram in hearing conservation program as required by location
  • Ability to see close and distance; basic colors/shades
  • Ability to work inside an office, outside and in extreme temperatures
  • Ability to wear chemical resistant coveralls and respiratory protection
  • Ability to work with moving objects/hazardous machines and on slippery/uneven walking surfaces
  • Ability to work with others, interact with the public, and perform under deadline pressure
  • Ability to operate equipment, drive a vehicle and travel overnight


Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements
Education

  • Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Certifications

  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) required or equivalent certifications, education and/or experience
  • Fundamentals of Engineer Exam (FE)/EIT preferred

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years project management experience, focused on capital improvements
