Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking an Automation, Innovation and Software Developer to join a team providing dedicated and professional Advisory and Assistance Support (A&AS) to ensure effective, timely and optimal operation of Information Systems that support the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate (AFRL/RW) Research and Development (R&D) mission. Our work encompasses the activities associated with information management, Information Technology (IT), automation support, system administration, computer programming, configuration management, imaging, training, telecommunications, help desk, operations, customer support, administrative support, technical engineering, and other specialized networking and data communications services.

Responsibilities:

This position requires a highly motivated individual who will support automation of enterprise management systems and associated software development primarily in Microsoft Power Platform. The successful candidate shall:




  • Collaborate with the Low Friction Business & Operations (LFB&O) support personnel, stakeholders, and customer leadership to enhance operational efficiency and reduce friction within business operations.



  • Advise and assist the Government customer with authentication, security best practices, and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM). This involves offering insights, perspectives, technical solutions, timelines, and planning decisions for strategic directions. Strategic thinking, operational analyses, stakeholder engagement, and proficiency in technological tools to drive successful friction reduction initiatives are vital to this effort.



  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain digital tools to automate effective and efficient processes and best practices aimed at reducing friction in the customer's business and operations. This includes identifying areas for improvement, streamlining workflows, and introducing innovative approaches.



  • Provide technical analysis, reporting, and strategic input to enhance operational effectiveness across the customer's enterprise.



  • Forge strong, collaborative relationships with on-site team members and stakeholders across the customer's enterprise to foster productive collaborations and establish a network of support.



  • Advise and Assist with managing efforts (cost, schedule, performance), coordinating activities, and creating detailed documentation essential for the successful execution of automation and innovation initiatives.



  • Possess a proficient understanding and knowledge of key automation tools and agile methodologies (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Power Automate, Aris) to support management in an agile construct and streamline processes.



  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing workflows and applications to ensure they meet evolving business needs.



  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all development processes, workflows, and applications to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity



Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in an applicable technical discipline and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Note - 10 years of relevant experience developing and delivering products and solutions may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • Candidates must meet DoD 8140 Work Role 671-System Testing & Evaluation Specialist "Intermediate" requirements. The candidate shall maintain eligibility for the position through meeting the continuous education requirements as outlined in DoD 8140, 671-System Testing & Evaluation Specialist annual maintenance requirements. Security+ certification sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (COMPTIA) or equivalent certification compliant with Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140.1 or successor requirements is required.
  • Candidate must have at least one Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals certification (PL-900, PL-300, PL-400, PL-500)
  • Candidates must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Windows 10, Windows 11, and related PC skills.
  • Candidates should be goal-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of exercising tact and diplomacy, have the ability to work in a dynamic team environment, possess a strong work ethic, and be customer-focused.
  • Candidate must possess exemplary communication skills.
  • Candidates should be able to mentor team members and eagerly assist in solving complex technical problems.



Preferred Skills:



  • Experience in programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, and JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), and familiarity with RESTful Web APIs, HTML, and Visual Studio Code is highly desired.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure services and a thorough understanding of Power Platform services, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse, and SharePoint is strongly preferred.
