About the Job

Job Description:
Support ongoing research projects in a collaborative lab setting. Key responsibilities include:
-Assist the lab with research projects in a team-orientated scientific environment:
-Perform primary isolation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC)
-Grow HUVEC, blood outgrowth endothelial cells (BOEC), mouse microglia cells, SET-2 thrombocythemia cells, and THP-1 macrophagic cells
-Protein isolation, RNA isolation, mouse organ sectioning and staining for imaging
-Protein assay, ELISA, Western Blotting, RT-qPCR
-Data analysis using Excel, ImageJ, GraphPad
-Deliver in-depth training to new lab employees to promote strong team performance
-Evaluate thrombosis in myeloproliferative neoplasms and pain therapies in sickle cell disease
-Perform quantitative assays with high accuracy by closely following procedure
-Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Required Qualifications:
* Enrolled in an accredited degree program and in good academic standing
* Available to work up to 14 hours per week during lab hours, with a schedule approved by the PI

Preferred Qualifications:
* Background or interest in biology, biochemistry, physiology, biophysics, epidemiology, statistics, or medical/clinical research
* Strong writing and statistical analysis skills

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $15.25 - $25.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
