OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is actively seeking an experienced Plumbing Designer (12+ years), with experience in Revit MEP and AutoCAD, to work in one of our Merrick offices in San Antonio, TX; Atlanta, GA; Melbourne, FL; or Greenwood Village, CO locations. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated self-starter who can independently lead plumbing system designs, ensure code compliance, and contribute technical expertise on a variety of building projects including government, institutional, and mission-critical facilities. They should have experience working with office buildings, dormitories, warehousing and/or maintenance facilities, fire stations, aircraft hangars, and Data Centers. Experience designing biocontainment and/or public health facilities is a plus.

Pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00 per hour. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

This person will provide technical design, including calculations, construction drawing creation, specification writing/editing, and construction administrative activities, conduct installation inspections, write field reports, respond to RFI's, and attend meetings with client, contractor, and designers. The work will include the design of domestic water systems, pressure boosting systems, sanitary waste and vent systems, and storm water drainage systems and will develop designs for military, biocontainment, and other governmental Facilities.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree Requirements: Associate Degree in Engineering or Building Construction Science.
  • Minimum twelve (12) years of experience.
  • Capable of performing field surveys and documentation of construction progress and/or defects.
  • Experience in drafting and layout of domestic water, sanitary, waste, and vent plumbing systems, and natural gas.
  • Experience with sizing natural gas piping systems and developing isometric diagrams in compliance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC), International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), and NFPA 54 (National Fuel Gas Code).
  • Experience working with military or other governmental facilities.
  • Experience in design and construction related activities.
  • Strong understanding of building, plumbing, and energy codes and sustainable design concepts.
  • The client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with Revit MEP.
  • Active member of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE).
  • Experience designing medical air, gases, and other high pressure gas system design.
  • Biocontainment facility design experience.
