About the Role

As a Prevention Specialist, you'll work with Head Start programs, childcare centers, preschools, and kindergarten classrooms to support children's social and emotional development. You'll:

  • Conduct classroom observations and provide guidance on behavior management
  • Teach social-emotional lessons to small groups and classrooms
  • Partner with educators and families to develop individualized support plans
  • Refer families to additional community resources as needed
  • Lead trainings on trauma, resilience, ACEs, parenting, and mental health
  • Represent GCBHS at community meetings and events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood or Elementary Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field

Licensure (Required):

  • Must hold an active Ohio license: LSW, LPC, LISW, LPCC, Psychologist, or Teaching License

Required within 2 years:

  • Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) Credential

Additional credential and certificates preferred:

  • Infant Mental Health Practitioner credential
  • Trauma, Mental Health First Aid, QPR certificates

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of infant and early childhood development
  • Strong communication, active listening, and presentation skills
  • Work independently demonstrating initiative
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with families and educators
  • Flexibility and comfort traveling between program sites
  • Experience in trauma-informed, culturally responsive practice
