Your role with us

As a patient care attendant, you'll play a vital role in supporting the healthcare team and enhancing the patient experience by providing compassionate, hands-on assistance in an acute care setting. Under the direction of a licensed nurse, you'll help maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment while assisting patients with daily care activities and closely monitoring their well-being.

What you'll do

  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and feeding, while promoting patient dignity and independence.

  • Observe and promptly report changes in a patient's condition, such as vital signs, behaviors, or physical status, to the primary nurse.

  • Provide constant observation and redirection for patients requiring 1:1 care, such as those on suicide precautions, ensuring a safe environment at all times.

  • Support patient mobility, turning, and positioning needs in accordance with care plans and established safety protocols.

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and healthcare staff, adapting your approach to each patient's developmental and cultural needs.

  • Maintain accurate, concise documentation of patient care, behaviors, and activities using appropriate medical terminology and system tools.

  • Follow infection control practices and ensure that patient rooms and unit areas are clean, organized, and hazard-free.

  • Respond to call lights and requests promptly, assist with unit errands, restocking, and keeping supplies organized and available.

  • Support unit efficiency by transcribing non-medication orders, updating staffing records, assisting with record maintenance, and performing basic clerical duties as needed.

Additional information

  • Recent experience in an acute care setting/ caregiving preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire.
