POSITION SUMMARY Drafter I is responsible for completing assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with engineering methods, practices, and programs. The Drafter I use software to convert the designs of designers and engineers into technical drawings and other documentation. Drafter I reports to the Engineering Services Manager. JOB FUNCTIONS Include the following, but other duties may be assigned: Performs simple drafting work using computer-aided (CAD) software both in a 2-D and 3-D environment. From marked-up prints, performs simple revisions to 2-D drawings, 3-D models, and associated Bills of Material in company ERP system. Prepares drawings of components, compressors systems, detail layouts, and assemblies from 3-D models, sketches, or marked-up documents. These drawings are used to communicate engineering ideas, designs, and information for the manufacture of components, instruction of assemblers and engineering documentation. Prepare drawings using recognized systems of symbols, legends, shadings, and lines having specific meanings, specify dimensions, materials, and procedures and identify and apply section and other views to fully detail those drawings for use by fabricators or customers. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent; OR a minimum of four (4) semesters of related course work or experience; OR currently enrolled in a drafting and design program. Familiarity with AutoCAD and AutoDesk Inventor. Knowledge of engineering principles and practices. Knowledge of fastening and manufacturing methods. Knowledge and skill in drafting methods, procedures, and techniques. Must be detail oriented and able to multitask and prioritize demands. Must be able to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
