Job Summary

Milwaukee Public Schools seeks exceptional Instructional Coach - Early Childhood Itinerant Special Education Teacher (K3-K5) candidates who are highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders.

This position provides services to students with special education needs in grades K3-K5 enrolled in non-MPS early childhood programs and MPS schools without special education early childhood units. The Instructional Coach: Early Childhood Itinerant Special Education Teacher (K3-K5) is responsible for implementing services based on individual students' IEPs.

Qualifications

Eligible candidates must have:

  • A current lifetime license in Early Childhood Special Education, Pre-Kindergarten-Grade 3 (1809)
  • A minimum of five (5) years of fully licensed teaching experience as a special education teacher

Candidates with the following education, skills, or experience are preferred:

  • Master's degree
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
Responsibilities

  • Assists regular education teachers in supporting students with special education needs within the school setting.
  • Maintains ongoing contact with school staff and parents to assist them in the development of a realistic understanding of their child's abilities, progress, and future goals.
  • Shares resources and educational information with school staff and parents concerning students with special education needs.
  • Assists in the modification and adaptation of instruction and curriculum materials to meet to students' needs.
  • Provides specially designed instruction to students and consults with classroom teachers as indicated in students' individual education plan.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of the individual educational plan for each student.
  • Responsible for ongoing assessment and program planning as it pertains to the students' IEP.
  • Acts as the IEP chairperson for the students' annual IEPs.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

The Instructional Coach - Early Childhood Itinerant Special Education Teacher (K3-K5) salary schedule starts at $55,317.33 and increases according to the set salary schedule based on education beyond the required bachelor's degree and previous years of fully-licensed K-12 teaching experience.

Salary range: $55,317.33 - $103,599.82 (2F - 200-day calendar)
