Job Description
Your Role: The Unsung Heroes of the Operating Room

In the OR, you're not just a bystander; you're an integral part of a high-performing surgical team. Your contributions ensure that surgeries proceed smoothly, patients are well-cared for, and the OR maintains its fast-paced rhythm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Positioning & Transfer: Assist in safely transferring and positioning patients on the operating table, ensuring comfort and optimal access for the surgical team.

  • Supply Management: Utilize the surgeon's preference card to charge and credit supplies accurately, ensuring all necessary materials are available and accounted for.

  • Routine Non-Licensed Tasks: Perform essential tasks such as restocking supplies, cleaning instruments, and transporting patients, allowing licensed personnel to focus on specialized care.

  • Communication: Serve as a vital communication link, relaying important information to the charge nurse and ensuring the team is aligned throughout the surgical process.

Minimum Requirements

To excel in this role, the following qualifications are typically required:

Education: High school diploma or GED.

Certification: Maintain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification for continued employment.

Experience: At least 6 months of experience working in an OR environment or equivalent experience in roles such as anesthesia tech, nursing assistant, or sterile processing technician.

Familiarity with the OR Environment: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting, assisting with patient positioning, transferring surgical patients, and supporting the surgical team to ensure timely turnover of operating rooms.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in using various equipment and systems, including addressograph, charts, phones, patient call systems, computer systems, and fax machines.
