Founded in 1964, the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) is a private, independent, nonprofit institution that provides engineering leadership in service to the nation. The mission of the National Academy of Engineering is to advance the welfare and prosperity of the nation by providing independent advice on matters involving engineering and technology, and by promoting a vibrant engineering profession and public appreciation of engineering. THE OPPORTUNITY: As a key member of the Executive Office team, the Council Administrator provides comprehensive support for meetings and related activities of the National Academy of Engineering Council and the National Academy of Engineering Fund (NAEF) Board of Trustees (BoT). Also provides executive support as requested for the NAE Executive Officer. Job Description: ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Working with the NAE Executive Officer and NAE Directors, the Council Administrator:
NONESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Related tasks and projects as assigned. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong project coordination skills, interpersonal communication skills and writing abilities, attention to detail. Ability to solve problems of variety and complexity using originality and ingenuity. Ability to operate using appreciable latitude for independent judgment and action. Commitment, and ability to work successfully in a team environment and form and maintain effective teams. Experience working in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness. Ability to develop relationships with co-workers and employees in other National Academies departments through effective communication. Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to effectively interact with NAE members and all levels of employees. Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential. Minimum Experience: Three years of related professional experience. Preferred Experience: Five years of related professional experience. Relevant work experience in an engineering, non-profit, or academic organization highly preferred. Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Reports to NAE Executive Officer. Sets goals and objectives with Executive Officer. Compensation Range: The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine support equity and fairness for all, and transparency in our compensation programs. An estimated compensation range for this position is $70,880 - $88,600. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will be based on the candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, and work experience, commensurate with compensation of current employees in comparable positions with similar knowledge, skills, and work experience, and subject to budget parameters. Note it is not typical for a candidate to be hired at the higher end of the range. This is a benefits-eligible position. Work Environment:Hybrid Office/Telecommute environment, expected onsite percentage 60%, as determined by the Executive Officer, with occasional travel between National Academies' facilities and to off-site meeting/sponsor locations.
