Civil Service Title- Supervisor Bridge Painter
Job Description- Serves as Supervisor Bridge Painter/Inspector in the Bridge Painting unit, reporting to Director and Deputy Director. Candidate will ensure contractors adhere to NYCDOT specifications, SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings), NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers), and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines. Monitor coating thickness, adhesion, and overall quality using industry-standard inspection tools. Ensure failures and or deficiencies are identified, documented, and properly addressed. Oversee environmental inspectors confirm to all hazardous material handling, including lead abatement and containment procedures, complies with EPA, OSHA, and NYC environmental regulations. Manage proper waste disposal, air monitoring, and containment measures are implemented to minimize environmental and public impact. Conduct site safety inspections to enforce worker protection standards and regulatory compliance. Provide direct oversight of bridge coatings contractors, ensuring work is executed according to project specifications, timelines, and budgets. Coordinate with NYCDOT engineers, project managers, and consultants to address technical challenges and ensure smooth project execution. Review contractor submittals, material approvals, and quality control reports. Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, deficiency notices, and compliance documentation to support contract enforcement. Maintain accurate records, photographs, and test results for auditing and future reference. Recommend corrective actions and participate in forensic analysis of coating failures. Provide expertise in coatings selection, surface preparation techniques, and industry best practices. Liaise with first responders prior to the start of projects to ensure emergency personnel are informed of potential hazards, project scope, and safety procedures. Engage in technical meetings to address challenges, review specifications, and implement best practices in coatings application and environmental safety. Research and evaluate new equipment and technological advancements that improve coatings performance, efficiency, and environmental sustainability. Train and mentor coatings inspectors and field personnel on inspection protocols, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements. Performs other related duties. Depending on the nature of the project and in emergency situations, certain tasks may require field visits on weekends or during overnight hours.

SUPERVISOR BRIDGE PAINTER - 91871
Minimum Qualifications Six years of full-time satisfactory experience in painting bridges, towers, tanks, and other elevated structures where rigging and scaffolding are used, at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
License Requirement: At the time of appointment, eligible must possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License valid in the State of New York, with no restrictions. This License with no restrictions must be maintained for the duration of employment.
