Description

The Audit Manager, plans, organizes, directs, staffs, and oversees internal audit activity in accordance with the Internal Audit Activity Charter. This includes development and monitoring of the annual audit plan and audit practices/strategies for all significant functions of the Bank.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Approves the annual audit universe risk analysis and formalizes a risk-based audit plan for the Audit Committee. This includes enterprise-wide financial, operational, information technology and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Reviews the methodology for FDICIA process narratives and risk assessments for appropriate content and design of internal controls tests; prepares an annual report for executive management and the Audit Committee to summarize all tests results.
  • Approves guidelines for the Audit team in matters related to the audit schedule, team assignments, test plan development, work paper review, audit report and issue tracking.
  • Meets regularly with the audit team to monitor progress toward achievement of the audit plan and specific assignments.
  • Reviews and approves all audit reports prior to distribution.
  • Requests, evaluates, and presents audit-related engagement letters to the Audit Committee for its approval.
  • coordinates management of the annual integrated audit performed by an independent public accountant; provides guidance to Internal Audit managers/team leaders related to the annual audit and outsourced internal audit engagements.
  • Coordinates examination logistics and compilation of exam request lists; maintains communication with examiners.
  • Monitors progress to resolve audit and examination issues including escalation of high-risk audit issues to executive management, the Audit Committee, and the Bank's Board of Directors; prepares a quarterly executive summary of unresolved audit issues.
  • Develops and reviews reports of key audit performance indicators to measure targets related to execution of audit plans, issue resolution and efficiency.
  • Maintains the Audit Quality Assurance and Improvement Program and coordinates an annual self-assessment.
  • Hires and evaluates audit team managers and develops training programs.
  • Encourages optimization of audit effectiveness, utilization of audit work paper software and emerging audit methodologies.
  • Manages the operations of the Audit Department including Budget preparation/monitoring and audit fee accruals/allocations
  • Seeks opportunities to model, develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Maintains department confidentiality.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant field required and a minimum of 5 years of related experience in auditing financial institutions required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Audit theory and practices.
  • CPA, CIA, CFSA, or CRCM certifications preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of the regulatory environment for financial services preferred.
