Job Summary

The Senior Director of Foundation Board Relations & Real Estate Holdings serves as a strategic leader responsible for overseeing critical operations across multiple domains of the FIU Foundation. The Senior Director provides high-level governance support, comprehensive real estate portfolio management, and strategic project leadership to advance the Foundation's mission and maximize organizational effectiveness.

  • Oversees, leads, and organizes strategic goals for the FIU Foundation ensuring proper governance of the FIU Board of Directors.
  • Serves as executive liaison for FIU Foundation BOD members, providing timely responses to questions and concerns, including referral to appropriate organizational leaders. Ensures timely collection of annual board dues and pledge commitments.
  • Researches, develops, and implements FIU BOD engagement plans in collaboration with key leadership and development professionals. Conducts trend analysis and provides executive support for program/project development.
  • Provides oversight for FIU BOD full board meetings, sub-committee meetings, and events. Leads cross-functional teams in implementation of logistics and reviews expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Oversees all aspects of property acquisitions in accordance with the Real Estate Acceptance Policy. Conducts compliance review of real estate assets owned by the FIU Foundation.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate insurance coverage for all properties and managing associated risks. Serves as primary point of contact for emergency-related issues impacting properties.
  • Negotiates and manages leases with tenants for all properties and reviews Common Area Maintenance (CAM) as required. Takes lead in legal review of lease agreements and related contracts.
  • Maximizes tenant relations through regular monitoring of key metrics such as revenue and customer satisfaction. Conducts regular site visits for existing real estate holdings. Oversees building improvements, renovations, and new construction related to Foundation real estate holdings. Advertises and markets vacant spaces.
  • Collaborates with Foundation Controller to develop annual budget and forecasting on FIU Foundation real estate holdings.
  • Assists with critical projects related to the Foundation's success, working directly with the SVP of the Foundation and AVP of Operations on advancing high-priority initiatives.
  • Partners with internal departments to manage key projects while keeping stakeholders informed. Serves as liaison to maintain communication for planning and implementation.
  • Maintains project plans, ensuring strategic projects are completed on time, within budget, and within scope. Implements monitoring procedures and conducts needs assessments.
  • Manages identification and implementation of alternative revenue-generating initiatives aligned with the Foundation's and University's values, leveraging existing assets and creating new ones.
  • Develops, communicates, and enforces policies and procedures to safeguard assets. Interprets and adheres to state contract laws and manages corrective action plans for compliance issues.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and eight (8) years of experience or a Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and six (6) years of experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Significant experience in higher education board relations and real estate operations.
  • A track record of supporting higher education philanthropic organizations.
  • Experience in large institutional settings where compliance and risk management are critical.
