You will join our Public Water and Wastewater Treatment Group

As our new Engineer 1, you will be part of a team dedicated to working with municipalities and utilities to deliver a wide range of water and wastewater-related projects; from preliminary studies to progressing projects through design and construction. The candidate will be joining a highly successful team providing water and wastewater infrastructure and treatment solutions within the northeast region of the US while collaborating with other offices and teams throughout Ramboll North America.

Job Description

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Under supervision, plan and design portions of projects of varying complexity, following design, construction, and government standards using various design software and tools.
  • Complete design calculations, review and analyze field data, and assist in preparing construction cost estimates with guidance by a senior engineer.
  • Perform engineering tasks in support of the creation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, and pump stations to meet client project requirements.
  • Prepare reports or analysis such as design calculations, field data results/conclusions and/or cost estimates.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, geologic data and other data to plan projects.
  • Provide supporting narrative sections to engineering reports relative to tasks completed.
  • Gather and record information to be used to edit or update company specifications.
  • Support field assignments as required.
  • Review vendor drawings to assure compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare routine technical reports.
  • Visit job sites to gain field experience, broaden background, and develop practical engineering skills.
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of projects in construction through document review and development of comments and direction for contractors.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Environmental/Chemical Engineering with 0 to 2 years of demonstrated experience with study and design of treatment and/or conveyance systems for water and sewer.
  • Fundamental understanding of physical, chemical and biological practices for treating and conveying municipal wastewater and potable water, including but limited to, hydraulics, pump selection and sizing, and process equipment.
  • Ability to perform field work in support of planning and design projects.
  • Ability to function well in a collaborative, team environment.

Ideally, the candidate will have:

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and capable of working independently and with colleagues, clients, contractors, and regulatory agency staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, etc.
