Job Purpose

This position reports to the Manager, NY Electric Data Governance. The Lead Data Governance Analyst plays a pivotal role in establishing, implementing, and ensuring data governance practices through collaboration across business operations and technical functions. As a data subject matter expert, this position will support and enable data projects and processes, and deliver core data capabilities, while advancing the NY Electric Data Strategy.

Key Accountabilities
  • Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive Data Governance framework for NY Electric: Provide guidance on data standards and tools, develop policies and procedures, gain buy-in on ownership and stewardship, implement monitoring and controls, lead communities of practice, and oversee the day-to-day governance of NY Electric data
  • Act as an SME for various data processes and projects, performing end-to-end review of data requirements while ensuring alignment with the NY Electric Data Strategy
  • Conduct data quality assessments and root-cause analysis of data issues. Work with business and IT stakeholders to implement necessary changes and improvements
  • Develop detailed data-process maps and documentation (current and to-be state) for NY Electric workflows and projects
  • Enable business objectives by working with product and technical workstreams, supporting the development of business value cases and providing business process subject matter expertise
  • Develop collaborative engagement plans on data management requirements and best practices. Deliver messaging in an effective manner for various stakeholder groups to gain buy-in
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, technology, engineering, or data science
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant business experience, working with, or within, a utility company, preferably with a focus on electric asset data
  • Experience with Data Management concepts (governance, enablement, quality) and tools (Snowflake, Informatica, Power BI, SQL)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to deliver complex content concisely and effectively

Preferred Experience

  • Persuasive communicator, with experience leading and influencing within and across departments and business areas
  • Experience conducting structured data and process analysis, generating well-defined requirements and metrics, and proposing/implementing data-driven solutions
  • Experience with industry standard utility applications such as GIS, Work Management, and Enterprise Asset Management systems

Salary: $122,000 - $132,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
