Summary Objective:

The Director of Retail oversees the merchandising strategy and operations across all retail locations, ensuring alignment with company goals and member preferences. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth through strategic product selection, pricing, and promotional planning based on sales performance, market trends, and member insights. The Director partners closely with senior leadership to support the broader business objectives and contribute to the ongoing success and expansion of Onelife Fitness.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Champion and elevate the Onelife Fitness retail experience as part of delivering the Ultimate Fitness Experience to every member.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive retail strategy with a strong emphasis on branded apparel, driving sales, brand visibility, and member engagement.
  • Lead merchandise planning and selection with a focus on high-performing apparel lines and seasonal trends, ensuring offerings align with member preferences.
  • Build and manage vendor relationships to improve product quality, pricing, and exclusivity-prioritizing partnerships that enhance apparel performance and profitability.
  • Redesign and implement efficient ordering and inventory control systems to reduce shrinkage, improve stock turnover, and support multi-location scalability.
  • Review, track, and verify retail invoices and vendor payments for accuracy and compliance.
  • Establish and maintain consistent visual merchandising standards to enhance product presentation and brand consistency across all locations.
  • Utilize in-club marketing, digital signage, and promotional campaigns to increase apparel visibility and drive retail and online sales.
  • Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including:



    • Sales per member visit
    • Average transaction value
    • Apparel sell-through rate
    • Inventory turnover
    • Gross margin return on investment (GMROI)



  • Review and continuously refine retail Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to drive operational consistency and excellence.
  • Ensure retail offerings support the needs and lifestyle of club members, based on feedback, performance data, and local market trends.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Facilities, Marketing, and other departments to ensure seamless retail integration without impacting club service scores.
  • Provide strategic and hands-on leadership across all Onelife Fitness locaitons, including field visits and club-level support.
  • Work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, based on business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success and growth of the organization.

Required Experience, and Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the retail industry, with at least 3 years in a Director-level (or above) leadership role overseeing multi-unit operations.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in procurement, merchandising strategy, and pricing development.
  • Proven track record of launching and scaling new retail concepts, including involvement from design through buildout and execution.
