WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JOB:
The Principal, IT Disaster Recovery manages Disaster Recovery (DR) plans, Disaster Recovery testing, and ensures Disaster Recovery solutions are in place for mission-critical applications. Provides direction to determine technical and operational feasibility of solutions are aligned with Disaster Recovery requirements and standards. The successful candidate must have a solid working knowledge of data center computing, SaaS, IaaS, and network environments, an understanding of system resiliency in applications (business and technical), and experience with Disaster Recovery design and testing. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience in Disaster Recovery, as well as demonstrated proficiency in managing and coordinating recovery plans from a technology perspective. Proficient in Disaster Recovery standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision and reports to the Sr. Director, Critical Systems and Disaster Recovery.

The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home and can be located anywhere in the United States with a preference to work East Coast hours.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):
* Manage and maintain Application Disaster Recovery Plans
* Manage and maintain the Enterprise Disaster Recovery Plan
* Plan and coordinate Application Disaster Recovery Testing
* Perform Failover and Failback exercises
* Responsible for supporting Disaster Recovery standards and policies
* Recommend best practices for building resiliency within Cloud Solutions
* Identify and recommend solutions to eliminate Single Points of Failure within Cloud Solutions
* Work with Business Units to understand recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO) for mission critical applications and systems
* Schedule and host meetings to coordinate Disaster Recovery Testing
* Schedule and host meetings to update Disaster Recovery Plans
* Document changes to Disaster Recovery Plans
* Engage vendors when needed to discuss HA and DR Solutions
* Participate in Disaster Recovery Policy reviews
* Conducts risk analysis to identify critical operations and systems that are core to continued business operations in the event of disruption.
* Monitors and tests the plans and backup systems
* Develop and deploy training, documentation, and communication of disaster procedures to the organization
* Develops service level recovery standards and agreements with vendors
* Act as liaison for auditing and examination of disaster recovery processes
* Work with Business Continuity management to ensure that the disaster recovery and business continuity plans drive disaster recovery (DR) strategy and procedures.
* Establish and maintain the overall plans for executing all DR procedures and understand their interdependencies.

Scope: Individual contributor that works under limited supervision. Apply subject matter knowledge. Capacity to understand specific needs or requirements to apply skills/knowledge.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (required/minimum qualifications):
* A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, information protection (information security), or a related IT field is required.
* Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
* 3+ years of managing and executing IT Disaster Recovery Plans

To be considered, applicants MUST have IT disaster recovery experience. IT Disaster recovery certification preferred.

* 4+ years leading medium-large projects including planning, execution, and leadership presentations
* Understanding of NIST 800-34 Rev 1
* Experience interacting with Auditors preferred
* Proficient in SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS offerings
* Proficient in Microsoft Azure ASR and MSI services
* Proficient in Amazon Web Services (AWS) multiple availability zones and regions

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (preferred qualifications):
* DR Certified Planner, Specialist, or Expert or equivalent experience
* CBRM (Certified Business Resilience Manager) or CBRITP (Certified Business Resilience IT Professional) preferred and PMP certification is desired
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, Project
* Understanding of current recovery solutions, High Availability and Cloud Architectures is needed
* Knowledge of Crisis Communication solutions
* Must understand basic IT network and Infrastructure principles
* Require excellent oral and written communication skills to convey plans, exercises, and activities. Must be able to interact with technical, non-technical, and management staff.
* Familiarity with Business Continuity program life cycle plans and source deliverables (e.g., risk assessments, continuity planning) is essential.

* Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

We do not offer an annual bonus for this role.Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed.
