About The Position

The Safety Program Manager supports the Ameren Safety Strategy, critical safety programs, and safety metrics through development/improvement and identifying performance gaps/improvement opportunities. Through leading and participating on teams, this position is also responsible for creating data-driven business solutions, including collection and reporting capabilities, and developing project plans and implementation solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of Ameren's Safety strategy and critical safety programs to identify levels of key performance indicators that will accurately drive and measure safety performance and strategy execution.
  • Align with Ameren's Safety Strategy and understand the impact to internal business partners to make strategic recommendations to senior leadership based on data analysis, industry direction, and best practices.
  • Independently and/or through collaboration with business partners, evaluate, develop, manage, and execute strategic safety programs and processes to enhance effectiveness and progress the maturity of Ameren's Safety Management System.
  • Lead or provide oversight for safety technology including configuration of current technology or exploration of alternative solutions to support new processes. Responsible for business case development, needs analysis, RFP process, deployment and administration for new solutions.
  • Establish corporate-level incented metrics to support safety at Ameren's Board of Directors' level ensuring analytical rigor and compliance with Internal-Audit requirements.
  • Design processes to analyze data from diverse sources to generate actionable insights and solutions. Analyze data to understand complex business issues and provide insight to decision makers.
  • Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset, identify and partner with appropriate resources to leverage technology, streamline processes and develop solutions to build required reports, informational dashboards, and other end-user information and resources.
  • Represent Ameren through benchmarking with other industry and non-industry partners to drive strategic direction and identify best practices to incorporate into Ameren's safety programs.
  • Assist with maintaining internal and external compliance requirements through involvement in process development, collaboration with internal stakeholders, review of compliance reporting and participation in regulatory agency interactions.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required. Seven or more years of experience in safety or a related field required along with a thorough knowledge of regulatory safety standards. Utility industry preferred. 3-5 years cross functional teams or large-scale project leadership experience required.

Experience in auditing processes or projects, compliance operations, or managing complex, detailed projects preferred. Project Management Professional Certification or Six Sigma experience preferred.

Proficiency in Office 365 with advanced level expertise in Excel required (e.g. pivot tables, complex formulas, graphing, etc.). Knowledge of SQL and visualization tools (Power BI) preferred. Knowledge of data preparation and processing such as assessment of data quality, new variable creation, variable selection, etc required. Report writing, ability to translate complex data into meaningful information required.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Project management skills, strategic thinking, and ability to draw connections between data points.

Compensation Range:

$108,400.00 - $168,000.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
