Job Description

The Student Support Specialist II plays a vital role in the academic journey of third- and fourth-year medical students (M3/M4), supporting their progression through the clinical phase of medical education. This position directly contributes to student success by coordinating logistics for clinical training, assisting with enrollment processes, and ensuring students meet essential academic requirements. Working closely with the Senior Student Services Coordinator and the Associate Dean for Curriculum, this position helps deliver a seamless and supportive student experience.

Why This Role Matters:
You will be a key part of the medical student experience-helping coordinate specialty department training and clinical rotations that are essential for students' preparation for residency placement. Your work will directly impact students' ability to meet academic goals, explore clinical specialties, and achieve competitive matches.

This position supports the coordination of clinical training partnerships, connecting MU students and visiting students from other institutions with high-quality learning experiences. Our goal is to facilitate transformative clinical education in collaboration with departments and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:
Visiting Student Coordinator: Support the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) process by assisting with incoming applications and helping departments navigate the vetting process.

M3 and M4 Registration: Help collect and organize student specialty preferences and enrollment timing; offer one-on-one planning assistance for third year registration.

Exam Support: Proctor and prepare clerkship exams; ensure faculty and proctors have all necessary resources.

Data Reporting: Generate monthly reports to support accreditation compliance in assigned areas.

Enrollment Support: Serve as backup support for M4 schedule adjustments and enrollment changes.

Grade Management: Process and transmit M3/M4 grades to MyZou, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

Orientation & Assignments: Assist with M3 orientation, grading workflows, and tracking completion of required assignments.

Conflict of Interest Coordination: Oversee and maintain tracking for conflict of interest reporting.

Team Collaboration: Crosstrain with the M1/M2 coordinator to provide coverage and support as needed (e.g., uploading course materials to Canvas, managing scheduling logistics, and communicating with faculty/students).

Additional Duties: Contribute to team success by performing other relevant tasks as assigned.

Shift

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities
Flexibility: This position may offer some flexibility for remote work based on task requirements and supervisor approval.
