Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Application Manager is responsible for overseeing the strategy, support, and continuous improvement of one or more business-critical applications. This role bridges business operations and IT, ensuring the systems under their purview deliver reliable performance, user satisfaction, and process efficiency. Leading a team of System Analysts, the Application Manager drives execution, partners cross-functionally to optimize application workflows, and ensures alignment with enterprise architecture and data governance standards. Key Performance Responsibilities: Lead with Impact: Take charge of a talented team, supporting, configuring, and enhancing our enterprise applications while managing their entire lifecycle.

Build Strategic Partnerships: Serve as the primary IT liaison, collaborating closely with business units to understand their evolving needs, championing application solutions, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Collaborate for Success: Work hand-in-hand with Solution Architects and Data Architects to design applications that optimize business processes and uphold data standards.

Vendor Management Guru: Oversee vendor relationships, coordinating issue resolutions, escalations, and upgrades to keep our systems running smoothly.

Quality Assurance: Manage incident, change, and release processes to ensure top-notch quality and minimal disruption to our operations.

Root Cause Detective: Facilitate thorough analyses and user acceptance testing to ensure continuous improvement in our applications.

Project Governance Partner: Collaborate with governance teams to ensure seamless delivery of upgrades, new features, and process enhancements.

Documentation Champion: Promote consistency in system documentation, training materials, and change communications across platforms.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

Educational Background:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related field. Alternatively, equivalent work experience or post-high school education in a related field will also be considered.

Experience Matters:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant IT experience supporting enterprise applications, including system configuration, process improvement, or technical analysis.

Leadership Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience as a lead analyst, subject matter expert, or informal team lead with responsibilities for engaging stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Proven ability to work across multiple disciplines-IT, operations, and business units-to drive integrated solutions that make a real impact.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Experience with ticketing/issue tracking systems such as DevOps, Jira, or ServiceNow, along with a solid understanding of Agile or hybrid project methodologies.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical documentation skills that ensure clarity and alignment across teams.

Independent Problem Solver:

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, guiding others through problem-solving and change initiatives.

Integration Familiarity:

  • Familiarity with application integrations, data standards, and experience working with distributed or remote teams.

Leadership Potential:

  • Prior leadership or mentoring experience is preferred but not required-this role is perfect for candidates seeking their first formal management opportunity!
