Boiler & Refrigeration Technician III

A Boiler and Refrigeration Technician III in Paterson, WA based out of our Columbia Crest Winery is available at Ste Michelle Wine Estates (SMWE) This position performs a variety of specialized, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, operations, upgrades, and repairs of systems related to refrigeration, heating, and utility systems. Under minimal supervision this position ensures maximum operating efficiency to key utility systems needed for the wine making and bottling process. This position operates and maintains systems that fall under regulatory compliance laws and requires participation in the emergency response team.

Boiler & Refrigeration Technician job responsibilities include:

• Understand and apply Safe Work Practices Related to Refrigeration, Boilers, Mechanical an Electrical Systems, And Utilities Work. examples would include: LOTO, Elevated Work, Confined Space, ARC Flash, Hot Work, Electrical Regulations (NEC), Process Safety Management (PSM), And Safety Procedures Set by The SMWE Environmental Health and Safety Department.
• Participate in the Emergency Response Team, requiring being fit tested, mask fit, and response ready.
• Train lesser skilled technicians and guide maintenance team on refrigeration, and utilities while promoting best practices and industry standards
• Read and create piping, line diagrams, PID and instrumentation schematics related to refrigeration, and utility systems.
• Perform pipefitting, soldering, and brazing in support of refrigeration, and utility systems.
• Participate on the process safety management (PSM) Team to include development and writing of operating procedures.
• Fabrication to include cutting, welding, grinding, fitting, using various processes like MIG, TIG, Stick, and Gas.
• Program/troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLC 500, Control Logix's, Device net, Ethernet IP,
• Repair, maintain and troubleshoot industrial food processing machinery including but not limited to pumps, conveyor systems, bottle fillers, stretch wrappers, case erectors, case packers, capsule applicators, and labelers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Previous experience to include:

• Advanced knowledge of Control Logix's, RS networks, and Factory Talk programming software.
• Extensive knowledge of steam boilers used in industrial applications.
• Familiarity with AC and DC electrical system to include low voltage DC control circuits to 3 phase 480-volt systems
• Extensive knowledge of industrial pumped ammonia refrigeration systems that include chillers, jacketed tanks, and area comfort cooling.
• Knowledge and experience with process safety management (PSM) related to ammonia refrigeration. To include MOC, PHA, MI, and other elements.
• Knowledge in water treatment related to condensers, potable water, and wastewater systems.
• Knowledge of industrial water systems, underground plumbing, and filtration systems.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Has Completed or has the ability complete RETA or GCAP programs
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a winery, food processing facility or similar environment involving the responsibilities as outlined above.
• Ability to work extended hours during harvest & peak periods to include rotating shift work and weekends
• History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.

Your Compensation:

$30.02 - $39.03/hr. based upon relevant experience.
