Shipping and Materials Clerk

Primary Function:

Arrange for receipt, shipment, transfer and/or maintenance of materials/inventory. Maintain associated records utilizing manual and/or computerized applications following established policies and procedures. Load and unload shipments.

Working procedure and/or responsibility assigned:

Perform work of equal or lower skill level as required.

1. Coordinate, schedule and maintain materials inventory or warehouse activities which may include functions such as: ordering, posting, coordinating the redistribution of materials/equipment following established policies and procedures and utilizing computerized applications where required.
2. Load and unload shipment using required equipment such as dolly, pallet trucks, forklift, etc.
3. Track and locate incoming and/or outgoing shipments/inventoried materials. Prepare and maintain required documents and records following established procedures in order to submit activity reports as required.
4. Maintain an inventory of supplies and necessary forms.
5. Reconcile receiving discrepancies with requisitioners as identified by Accounting and submit activity reports as required.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

SCOPE, PURPOSE AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:

Intradepartmental - Daily - Exchange information and receive specific instructions.

Interdepartmental - Frequent - Make arrangements for shipping or delivery of materials.

Transportation - As required - Arrange for pickup and/or delivery of shipments.

Vendors - As required - Exchange information regarding purchase orders or shipments.

Direction of others:

May provide guidance or assistance to departmental personnel as to proper point of delivery, loading, unloading and/or transfer of materials.

Direction received:

Under limited supervision, must plan and arrange work schedule following established policies and procedures. Receives specific instructions on special requests from manager or requisitioner.

Education requirement:

High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience requirement:

One year experience in shipping, receiving, materials, property management or equivalent. Computer experience desired.
