Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) is an engineering and scientific investigation and failure analysis firm. We primarily work with law firms, insurance companies, and manufacturers on small to large-scale projects to answer any technical questions they have. Our projects can entail investigating major transportation accidents, equipment failures, personal injury claims, and damage to residential or commercial structures. About This Role

A Conflict Analyst will perform detailed new matter searches, supplemental searches, audits, and updates in the database. Verify all information and maintain the integrity of the firm's database. Produce detailed search reports for production to the matter approver. Ensure compliance with the firm's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive conflict check requests via an online submission system for potential new projects to research and provide search results to the appropriate approver
  • Review project information forms for any possible misspellings or alternate spellings, accuracy or missing information, request additional information from admins, as necessary
  • Assign project numbers and perform precise entry of new projects into the ESi database which includes a careful review of information
  • Search internal databases to determine the firm's involvement in all past projects
  • Verify the billing information
  • Sort search results to identify relevant hits and compile all search details into a report for the project approver to determine whether a conflict of interest exists
  • Perform supplemental searches for newly added and updated project information
  • If appropriate, search external databases to identify whether the entities involved are affiliated with other names
  • Submit and track approvals from directors
  • Perform special projects when needed
  • Perform updates for client and project information in the ESi database
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of ESi's database
  • Consistently meet deadlines and time-sensitive requests while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Coordinate with the leadership team, consultants, database managers, and other consulting professionals to achieve a seamless conflicts-management workflow
  • Partner with team members to answer questions pertaining to project intake, conflict checks, and special billing
  • Assist in managing conflicts database
  • Provide subject matter guidance in connection with general firm-wide new business clearance and conflicts-of-interest projects
  • Participate in the ongoing review of the firm's conflicts-management efforts
  • Under direction from management perform conflict checks during firm acquisitions
    • Work with designated contact(s) to obtain missing crucial information for conflict checks
    • Perform database searches related to the influx of new projects from acquired target
    • Assign project numbers and input new projects into the database

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience
  • Past position working with a conflicts database in a similar environment

  • Ability to comfortably interact with consultants and staff
  • Positive attitude with a solutions-based approach to work
  • Thorough working knowledge of pc, MS Office software applications, and database functionality

Preferred:

  • Experience working in 3E business management system
  • Thorough knowledge of corporate business structures, corporate family trees and corporate affiliations
