NextGen Precision Health Job Description
The Arnold Laboratory at the NextGen Precision Health Institute seeks a dedicated Research Specialist II with a primary focus on mouse colony management. Our lab investigates the mechanisms underlying age-related neural decline, neurodegeneration, and genetic neuromuscular disorders with the goal of developing novel therapies. A central emphasis of our research is on motor neuron dysfunction and its role in aging-related functional loss. The successful candidate will be a vital team member supporting a variety of projects that use in vivo electrophysiological, physiological, and genetic techniques. Key Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations of the mouse colony, including breeding, weaning, genotyping, record-keeping, and health monitoring. Coordinate animal usage across research projects to ensure optimal colony maintenance and experimental timelines. Communicate with veterinary staff and adhere to all IACUC protocols and animal welfare regulations. Support experimental workflows by performing genotyping, tissue collection, and preparation of animals for physiological and behavioral assessments. Participate in lab meetings and engage in relevant training or seminars Assist in additional lab tasks such as molecular assays, data organization, and inventory management as needed. Shift
Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in biomedical-relevant subject area, prior experience managing a mouse colony. Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $18.87 - $26.00 per hour Application Materials
