Now hiring a Accountant IV- Medical Expense

Prepares and assists in preparing claims and medical cost related journal entries and associated account reconciliations. Responsibilities also include processing medical related vendor payments, as well as review and execution of medical capitation contracts and related reporting.

Ideal Candidate: Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance. Six years experience in Accounting /Finance or related area



Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 6 years experience in Accounting /Finance or related area
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Experience working in claims systems and/or provider network management preferred.
  • Understanding of the life cycle of a claim and the relationship between provider payments and finance.


Responsibilities

  • Prepares numerous monthly routine and more complex journal entries and account reconciliations, primarily related to medical cost management.
  • Review account reconciliations support submitted by others in the department for reconciliations in which the role is responsible for.
  • Provides assistance and expertise to Accountants I, II, and III. (I dont see that other levels exist)
  • Process vendor payments and monitor status to ensure timely and accurate payment.
  • Prepares medical claims related statutory schedules for quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Assists in other compliance reporting to both related parties and external entities as necessary, ensuring compliance with requirements, accuracy and timeliness of reports.
  • Assists in the completion of ad-hoc projects.
  • Prepares and responds to audit requests.
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives, including implementing system automations in conjunction with other departments.
  • Understands and uses the G/L system and feeder systems.
  • Performs other functions as required including performing and receiving cross training.
  • Exhibits strong time management skills due to tight month-end close deadlines and deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.
