The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Technician B will provide general research support in a Molecular Medicine laboratory involving animal studies.

Responsibilities


  • Perform mouse dissection for collection of tissue samples and bone marrow cells.
  • Perform mouse genotyping, tail vein injection, blood glucose and lipid analysis, and CBC analysis.
  • Assist with flow cytometry including work on FACS and flow cytometry analysis.
  • Perform other techniques such as real time quantitative PCR, Western analysis and fluorescence confocal microscopy.
  • Order supplies/reagents for a large laboratory.
  • Organize and maintain supply inventory, laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety and lab safety guidelines.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Previous experience working with flow cytometry on analysis of bone marrow cells and peripheral blood cells a plus.


Other Requirements



  • The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made.
  • Medical clearance and participation in the medical surveillance program:

    • Work involves laboratory animals
    • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure


  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements.
