Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The Bed Placement Coordinator plays a pivotal role in optimizing house-wide throughput by efficiently managing patient bed placement and utilization according to established standards and policies. Working directly with House Supervisors and the Transfer Center, the coordinator serves as a key resource on bed status and patient placement with the strategic decision-making of assigning patients to specific units within the facility. The coordinator will consider various factors such as the patient's medical condition, the level of care required, potential risks, and infection control protocols to optimize resource allocation while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Will prioritize patient needs and coordinate patient transfers between units and facilitate patient placement for incoming transfers to the hospital.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products
  • Strong customer service orientation as well as written and oral communication skills
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and integrity of analytics
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze data to monitor workflow and enhance patient throughput.
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Minimum 5 years of recent RN experience in a critical care setting
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a House Supervisor role
  • Knowledge of JCAHO and other regulatory requirements present in an acute care setting
  • Complete understanding of acuity levels for all patient populations
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to make fast, appropriate decision-making in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations
  • Ability to appropriately deal with stressful situations and individuals while remaining calm and professional

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in healthcare IT systems and bed management software
  • Prior experience as a bed placement coordinator
  • Masters degree or higher

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CA Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
