Clinical Social Worker
Job Summary The OTOP Intake Social Worker will play a key role in providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed, person-centered, harm reduction substance use counseling and social work services. The incumbent will support patients enrolling in an opioid treatment program, provide comprehensive assessment, crisis intervention, case management, individual therapy, group therapy, and substance use services. Services will be provided at multiple locations including OTOP's main clinic at San Francisco General Hospital, OTOP mobile van sites, and San Francisco County Jail.
The incumbent will work with the OTOP Intake Team and OTOP Deputy Medical Director to identify opportunities and interventions to improve patient services based on Community Advisory Board feedback and clinical data analysis. The incumbent will collaborate with Jail Health Services to assist clients in meeting their needs while in-custody and improve continuity of care between Jail Health Services and community-based providers. Additional responsibilities include supporting the identification, implementation, and monitoring of contingency management or motivational incentives based on participant identified goals. The incumbent may provide evidence-based talk therapy and case management to a select cohort of patients having trouble accessing mental health/psychiatric services despite receiving referrals and demonstrated motivation for treatment engagement.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $37.56 - $50.31 (Hourly Rate). Department Description Opiate Treatment Outpatient Program (OTOP) is operated through the UCSF Department of Psychiatry at San Francisco General Hospital in partnership with the San Francisco Department of Public Health. OTOP provides evidence-based outpatient treatment for substance use disorders with particular emphasis on medications for opioid addiction treatment. Our clinic has rapidly been expanding intake services to increase access to methadone treatment in San Francisco. This is an exciting time to join our team as we grow and transform with the expansion of our services to best support our patients' needs. Required Qualifications
- CSW I: Master's degree from an accredited school of social work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position;
- CSW II: Master's degree from an accredited school of social work, and possession of the requirements necessary for application for licensure as a clinical social worker as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position;
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Demonstrates resourcefulness, effective written and oral communication, diplomacy, organizational and analytic skills.
- Self-directed, assertive and creative in problem solving, systems planning and patient care management.
- Basic computer skills. Experience with electronic health record systems (EHR)
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Able to provide age-appropriate assessments, interpretation of data, and delivery of interventions.
- Ability to work with any patient regardless of race, gender, religious affiliation, cultural beliefs, lifestyle, and disease process or treatment plan.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated excellence in reliability and attendance. Must be able to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changes in policy or procedure.
- Experience and knowledge in providing evidence-based psychotherapy and substance use counseling for adults with substance use disorders, severe psychosocial stressors, and acute and/or chronic trauma history.
- Capacity to be reflective about work and role
- Ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with opioid use disorder treatment including medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD)
- Knowledge of Federal, State and City/County Opiate Treatment Program (OTP) regulations. Aware of institutional polices regarding the provision of services and conduct of research in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR.
- Experience with Methasoft, Avatar and Epic.
- Experience and knowledge of perinatal mental health needs when engaged in MOUD and family systems.
- Experience working with unhoused patients.
- Experience working with immigrant populations.
- Experience working with justice involved populations.
- Minimum 2 years experience working in substance use and/or mental health field with low-income, culturally diverse populations.
License/Certification
- Registration/eligible for application for registration as an associate social worker, associate marriage family therapist or associate professional clinical counselor as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners
