Physical Security Specialist II Regional Coordinator

**This position requires an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance to be considered.**

Serve as primary authors of official documents detailing physical security conditions for Department decision makers. Support a geographical region's senior physical security specialist (Section Chief) or Branch Chief.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Physical Security Specialist II Regional Coordinator: Pay commensurate with experience.

Physical Security Specialist II Regional Coordinator Responsibilities Include:



  • Coordinates legislative waivers and standards exception requests is a direct and primary responsibility of PSP Physical Security Specialists.
  • Develops a mastery of policy related to legislative requirements and Department / Interagency physical security standards.
  • Coordinates the surveying of official Chief of Mission and Department facilities and residential properties overseas and domestically, documenting and assessing deficiencies related to standards, and managing and mitigating risk associated with physical security vulnerabilities.
  • Provides in-person briefings or written briefing papers for Department leaders, Department oversight bodies, and other high-level U.S. Government decision-makers.
  • Becomes thoroughly familiar with their assigned posts' levels of compliance with residential security standards and serve as sources of expertise and advice on residential security countermeasures for RSOs overseas.
  • Tracks residential security yearly budgets and ensure compliance with Department funding and budgeting timeline requirements.
  • Serves as primary PSP points of contact for RSOs on the Department's Soft Target program. They serve as Department experts on countermeasures appropriate for soft targets, primarily but not limited to schools overseas attended by children of Chief of Mission personnel.
  • Coordinates soft target funding requests from RSOs in conjunction with OBO elements.
  • Coordinates design reviews of OBO projects to ensure compliance with OSPB standards, and domestically, to A Bureau and GSA related to domestic standards compliance.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Physical Security Specialist II Regional Coordinator Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • Bachelor's degree education; or 5 years of continuous, direct work experience in Physical Security countermeasures or Risk Management.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and apply DS, legislative, and Department / Interagency standards, and physical/residential security requirements.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and team building experience with those who are not direct reports.
  • Excellent writing skills to including editing, ability to identify grammar mistakes, contextual errors, and ability to ensure products conform to established standards.
  • Experience drafting policy, procedures, memos, cables, and preparing reports for executives for decision making.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills that can explain complex details to different audiences including working level employees, senior leadership and subject matter experts.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Proven skills in basic data analysis, statistical analysis and demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Skilled in basic budgetary accounting procedures and recordkeeping.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and track activity.
  • Organized, self-starter who has demonstrated they are internally motivated, take ownership of their program, can work well independently or with a team, and with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated IT competence: current SharePoint, Office 365, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret level clearance.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
