The Quality Engineer for Mascoma Technologies is responsible for developing and implementing testing strategies and methodologies, as well as creating and executing test plans and test cases. Additionally, ensuring that once a strategy and methodology is developed, procedures are in place, documented, communicated, and proactively managed. The Quality Engineer will collaborate with peers to manage, schedule, and organize testing activities needed to deliver the quality products required by Mascoma Technologies.

Essential Functions of Position

  1. Participate in team planning sessions concerning creation or modification of products.
  2. Collaborate with product management, software development, stakeholders, implementation, and support teams.
  3. Lead Implementation of testing platform(s)
  4. Design test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures.
  5. Use a variety of testing tools and techniques, including manual and automated testing, to identify and report software defects.
  6. Work to ensure that software products meet established quality standards and compliance requirements.
  7. Participate in team hikes/project retros. Give and receive feedback and suggestions in a respectful and team-oriented manner.
  8. Will be involved in code reviews, performance testing, and documentation review to ensure that software products meet quality and usability standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a manual tester
  • Experience specific to test plans, test cases from system requirements and/or user stories
  • Ability to create and validate comprehensive testing plans for automation applications
  • Strong analytical skills with strict attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of modern testing frameworks and strategies (functional, non-functional, end-to-end, regression testing)
  • Possess strong problem-solving and creative troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to unify teams behind a common goal in support of positive end user experience
  • Willingness to learn business practices, processes, and procedures
  • Ability to work autonomously, stay on timeline, and participate in frequent team meetings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other team members.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and privacy.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work flexible time schedule including after hours
  • Must be able to travel and attend training sessions as required
  • Varied work with a normal expenditure of energy and little or no unusual physical effort
  • May involve incidental business machine operations
  • Work involves intermittent periods of stationary positioning and traversing
  • Working conditions include well-lit and well-ventilated areas

This position can be performed remotely within our service areas.
