Position Summary

Under the direction and guidance of the program director, responsibilities include: Correlating and coordinating clinical education with didactic education and evaluating its effectiveness; Participating in didactic and/or clinical instruction; Supporting the program director to assure effective program operations; Participating in the accreditation and assessment processes; Maintaining current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development; Maintaining current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress. Preparing and maintaining course outlines and objectives, instructing, and evaluating student progress; Supporting the program director to assure effective program operations; Participating in periodic review and revision of course materials; Maintaining current knowledge of professional discipline; Maintaining appropriate expertise and competence through continuing professional development.

Education

Completion from an accredited Radiologic Technology program. Holds, at a minimum, a Bachelor,s Degree. Master's Degree in Education, Science, Healthcare or related field strongly preferred.

Experience

Documents two years clinical experience in the professional discipline; Documents one year experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program; Is qualified to teach the subject of Radiography; Proficient in course development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.

Skills

1. Demonstrates an understanding of program goals and objectives.

2. Adheres to the JRCERT standards pertaining to clinical and academic classroom instruction, film evaluation, and clinical competency evaluation.

3. Prepares lesson plans, course objectives, clinical forms, summary materials, and written and practical testing examinations for all clinically and academically related curriculum.

4. Establishes procedures, guidelines, and manuals for the clinical education component of the curriculum with the Program Director. Makes effective recommendations on the other educational materials, information and supplies.

5. Directs classes and demonstration sessions in the technical and didactic aspects of radiography and related theory to include, but not limited to: laboratory instruction, demonstration, and application of equipment and procedures.

6. Coordinates student activities and assists students in developing technical proficiency. Assures room rotation assignments through various modalities to provide similar experiences for each student.

7. Provides direct supervision of students for all phases of the examination. Continuously provides constructive feedback to the student relative to clinical instruction.

8. Monitors and evaluates student's performance and clinical procedures and competency based on American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and New Jersey Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners requirements.

9. Assures competent supervision in his/her absence.

10. Demonstrates a working knowledge of computer functions and orients students to computer protocols.

11. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and medical terminology.

12. Demonstrates skill and knowledge in operating all diagnostic radiography equipment and in the performance of routine procedures.

13. Ensures optimal radiation protection for self and students.

14. Reports safety hazards related to work environment and equipment.

15. Maintains accurate clinical and academic records and appropriate documentation for student records as required. 16. Completes all required progress reports in a timely manner.

17. Maintains all educational and operational manuals for clinical instruction in an organized, up-to-date, and easily retrievable manner. Updates manuals as necessary.

18. Responsible for the oversight of the multi-media materials.

19. Attends required faculty meetings.

20. Maintains professional growth and development by attending educational programs and workshops. Networks with colleagues within the professional community. Reviews current literature.

21. Accurately enters, updates and audits one's own API clocking transactions (time card) including benefit time.

22. Provides supervision and support of clinical instructors.

23. Performs other duties as required and/or requested based on the needs of the patient, department, and organization.

Actual individual salaries vary depending on these factors. The salary listed does not include other forms of compensation or benefits. Pay Range: $92,358.24 - $115,447.80
