POSITION SPECIFICS

The Department of Animal Science at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, invites applications for a full-time, 36-week, tenure-line faculty position in Poultry Science. Candidates will be considered for appointment at the Associate/Full Professor level. The successful candidate will have a 100% extension appointment.

We seek an outstanding poultry scientist who will collaborate with poultry faculty and extension educators to deliver innovative, high-impact extension education that promotes sound biosecurity, productivity and profitability across various segments of the poultry industry. The successful candidate will develop research-based extension programs for the poultry industry and deliver program materials through various formats, including both in-person and digital.

The successful candidate will secure resources to support the program, will mentor and advise graduate students and will participate in the College's mission to serve industry and consumer stakeholders. They will also be expected to engage in appropriate professional activities within and outside the Department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Animal Science with experience working in poultry science. Candidates must have a strong record of academic output, demonstrated teaching ability for formal or non-formal audiences and the potential to conduct applied research and obtain external funding. Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills are essential. The Department is especially interested in candidates who, through their research and education efforts, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community at Penn State.

The Department of Animal Science at Penn State (https://animalscience.psu.edu/ ) includes 31 faculty members and is home to internationally recognized programs in animal nutrition reproduction, physiology, and genetics.
