Job Overview

As an Electrician Field Technician at US Distribution, a division of Parts and Service under Komatsu, you will play a crucial role in timely and effective repairs of machine components in the shop. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide scope of tasks to ensure the efficiency and safety of all repair work.

Scope



  • Maintain an annual repair efficiency of 85%
  • Maintain annual rework hours (as a percentage of hours billed) of less than 3%
  • Adhere to standard repair times defined by Komatsu Equipment Company (KEC) job codes listed in PFW
  • Achieve all company balanced scorecard goals
  • Maintain a minimum average score of 4 - 6 on the Technical Section of the Technician Competency Matrix
  • Maintain a minimum average score of 4 - 6 on the Soft Skills Section of the Technician Competency Matrix
  • Attain a score of no lower than 7 on the Safety Section of the Technician Competency Matrix

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Complete assigned jobs and tasks to meet flat rate times and the re-do metric
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures of KEC and the customers
  • Accurately complete related paperwork and access necessary databases for job completion
  • Adhere to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
  • Perform parts removal and installation, component disassembly and assembly, and testing and adjustment of assemblies with minimal supervision
  • Provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to customers
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and give repair recommendations
  • Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments
  • Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis
Qualifications/Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with customers, clients, and other employees

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to work with numbers, perform calculations, and analyze data

Computer Skills

Proficiency in database, internet, manufacturing software, and order processing systems

Other Skills

Strong analytical, problem-solving, customer service, communication, teamwork, planning/organizational, professionalism, quality, quantity, safety, adaptability skills are required for this position

Additional Information

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Certified to operate a forklift and/or manlift
  • May need to complete a DOT physical
  • Required to complete MSHA certification
  • May need to complete respirator certification

Tooling

Must have a basic set of mechanics tools as per Komatsu Equipment Company technician tool list

Adhere to all Company policies and procedures

Work Environment

  • Work in environments with moving mechanical parts and exposure to chemicals
  • Be exposed to various environmental conditions including wet/humid, high places, extreme heat, and noise
