STV is seeking an experienced Rail Bridge Engineer to join the firm in our Boston, MA office

This position is to serve our rail clients and make a difference in our Rail and Transit Practice. As an STV employee you can create a career path that is meaningful to you. This career opportunity affords you the ability to be responsible for the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position works closely with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design, and delivery.

You will apply engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverage technical knowledge, experience, and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. Develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawings and technical tools, programs, and software. Part of your success will be to mentor, train and review work of junior engineering staff and provide constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided in task order.
  • Assist in the development of project specifications.
  • Responsible for development of discipline specific engineering project elements and deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.
  • Assist in the coordination and productivity of project team members.
  • Work closely with other disciplines and on multi-discipline projects.
  • Perform quality control reviews of discipline, specific engineering project elements and deliverables.
  • Assist with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements at a minimum

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, from an ABET accredited university
  • 4 years of relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification

Skills

  • Familiarity with railroad manuals, policies, standards, and preferences, as well as AREMA manuals.
  • Independently progresses the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and MicroStation.
  • Understanding of the application related to engineering, geometric and algebraic principles.
  • Managing time, proactively forecasting, and communicating project development needs.

Nice if you have these skills

  • Experience with AREMA manual.
  • Familiarity with Class I railroad standard bridges is an asset

Compensation Range:

$78,837.35 - $105,116.46
