How You Will Contribute:

Reporting under Director, IT Infrastructure Foundational Services, as Manager, IT Identity Management you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of our organization's identity management systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring the security and integrity of our company's digital assets and user identities.

  • Lead a team of identity management professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship, while fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Collaborate with the IAM Architect to develop and execute a comprehensive identity and access management strategy aligned with business objectives and covering all organizational units.
  • Collaborate with the IAM Architect to design, implement, and maintain scalable identity management systems, including user provisioning, access control, and authentication mechanisms, ensuring flexibility for future growth.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and internal security policies through regular audits and compliance assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, HR, Security, Governance/Compliance) to integrate identity management solutions seamlessly with other IT systems and applications.
  • Conduct regular security risk assessments and audits using both internal and external resources to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in identity management technologies and make recommendations for process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Manage vendor relationships effectively, ensuring compliance with organizational security standards, negotiating favorable contracts, and evaluating third-party solutions for identity management needs.
  • Develop and deliver role-based training programs to educate employees on identity management best practices, ensuring awareness and compliance across the organization.
  • Monitor and analyze identity management system performance using data analytics tools, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary fixes or enhancements to maintain optimal system efficiency.

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience in Information Technology.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years of experience in identity and access management, preferably in roles involving team leadership.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading a team of IT professionals.
  • In-depth knowledge of foundational identity management principles and methodologies, including Zero Trust, Principle of Least Privilege, and other relevant frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of industry regulations and standards, including:

Privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR)
Security frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF 2.0, MITRE ATT&CK)
Compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, SOX)

  • Strong understanding of Identity related standards and protocols (SAML, OAUTH, OIDC, SCIM, LDAP), with hands-on experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Identity Governance and Administration, including:

Authorization methodologies
Identity Lifecycle Management

Centralized Identity Repository
Audit and Compliance

  • Experience with implementing and managing enterprise IDP, PAM, Authentication and Authorization solutions, preferably with experience in specific products (e.g. Okta, Active Directory, EntraID, CyberArk).
  • Excellent skills in:

Problem-solving and analysis
Change management
Service review
User Experience (UX) understanding and appreciation

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and experience in stakeholder management or project coordination.

Pay Range:

The annual pay range for this position in US is $126,300 - $201,700.

The annual pay range for this position in Canada is CAD111,700 - CAD178,400.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
