THIS POSTING IS FOR ONE OPEN POSITION WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR AN ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I OR II. POSITION OFFERED WILL DEPEND ON THE CANDIDATE'S QUALIFICATIONS.
Accountability
Both positions are accountable for providing technical and administrative assistance to the Engineering Design Center and Engineering Planning Department.
The Engineering Technician II will be a expected to support multiple staff/project simultaneously. The Engineering Technician II will also be expected to lead team-based projects and develop new solutions to provide support for the Engineering Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for all levels of the Engineering Technician:
* Assists with organizing and maintaining company-wide as-builts
* Responds to as-built requests (internal and external)
* Provides back-up and/or assistance in case of any drafting needs
* Provides engineering support to the GIS map updating process
* Assists in updating hydraulic models with as-built data
* Opens Work Orders, purchase orders, requisitions, and provides other Power Plant assistance
* Performs other duties as assigned
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for an Engineering Technician I:
* Assists with creating and maintaining project folders (electronic and paper)
* Assists with conducting utilities research (as needed), distribution of plans for field check, assembly of final plans for bid package, and preparation of preliminary cost estimates
* Compiles reports on project status and schedules, tracks project costs, documents changes, distributes deliverables, and compiles comments on deliverables
* Performs routine research and data entry tasks
* Maintains engineering spreadsheets and databases
* Maintains engineering project files and library
* Maintains Engineering Department SharePoint and/or Teams sites
* Miscellaneous project support, e.g. setting up meetings, check requests, and meeting minutes
* Completes support tasks, e.g. scanning, plotting, time entry (when needed), invoice processing, calendar updates, and word processing/editing
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for an Engineering Technician II:
* Acts as point person for conducting utilities research to support EDC engineers
* Assists with the distribution of plans for field check, assembly of final plans for bid package, and preparation of preliminary cost estimates
* Creates and compiles reports on project status and schedules, tracks project costs, documents changes, distributes deliverables, and compiles comments on deliverables
* Compiles data for various asset management functions, e.g. pipeline replacement analysis, asset management database, and conditional assessment spreadsheets
* Updates hydraulic models with as-built data
* Develops and maintains engineering spreadsheets and databases
* Develops and maintains engineering project files and library
* Develops and maintains Engineering Department SharePoint and/or Teams sites
* Acts as liaison between I.T. and Engineering Department staff to provide on-site technical support (hardware/software)
Minimum Qualifications for an Engineering Technician I and II:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Effective written/verbal communication skills and the ability to read system maps
* College coursework in engineering or related field preferred
* Computer skills including CAD, GIS, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and databases
Minimum Education Requirements for an Engineering Technician I:
* One year of experience in engineering design, construction, and/or planning, or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
Minimum Education Requirements for an Engineering Technician II:
* Three to five years of experience in engineering design, construction, and/or planning, or a Bachelor's Degree Engineering or related field

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The compensation range provided is in compliance with state specific laws. Multiple factors are used to determine the actual starting rate of pay for all of our positions, including specific skills, years of experience, education, certification(s), and other job related factors.
