Job Summary

The Senior Fixed Asset Accountant role is responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of fixed assets, leases, and deferred cloud computing expense processes and balances. This role partners with colleagues within the businesses and enabling function teams to ensure compliance with accounting policy pertaining to fixed assets, leases, and deferred cloud computing expense for entities within North America. This position will also support other more broad-based accounting projects as applicable.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Fixed Asset Accounting



  • Review capital asset requisitions for compliance with fixed asset policy and US GAAP.
  • Administer the capital appropriation request and approval workflow system to ensure compliance with company's fixed asset approval policy.
  • Monitor the compilation and completion of construction in process projects for timeliness of closure, as well as assist project managers to close out projects once construction has been completed.
  • Participate in and assist in coordination of fixed asset physicals at site locations.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations.


Lease Accounting



  • Review lease appropriation requests for compliance and adherence to lease accounting policy and proper accounting treatment in accordance with US GAAP (ASC 842 - Leases).
  • Maintain our lease portfolio in lease accounting software system and determine completeness and accuracy of monthly rental payments.


Cloud Computing Deferred Expenses



  • Maintain deferred expenses and monitor compilation of costs as well as the timeliness of project closure and resulting commencement of expense recognition.


General/Other



  • Monthly closing journal entries to maintain proper accounting for fixed assets, leases, and deferred expenses.
  • Conduct analysis related to fixed assets and leases as requested by management.
  • Research fixed asset, lease, and cloud computing accounting issues as assigned.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual audit and disclosure schedules.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for asset related systems projects.
  • Maintain fixed asset and lease internal controls. Maintain evidence to support controls are operating effectively and in accordance with the company's control environment.
  • Drive standardization and implement process improvements for asset related systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with business units and other enabling functions on cross functional projects and recurring tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of accounting experience
  • Experience with SAP ERP system or other similar/related applications
  • Supervisory experience is a plus but not required


Required Skills

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge within areas of fixed asset and lease accounting
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate with staff at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and complete tasks with limited oversight
  • Ability to travel 5-10% is required
