Position Overview:

A best-in-class electrical contractor is searching for a Vice President of Business Development. This role identifies, qualifies, and develops new customers and opportunities in all lines of business. Further, this role maintains a positive relationship and expands all lines of business with existing customers while also exploring new markets, providing market analysis, and assisting with marketing collateral. Base Location/Travel Requirements:



  • This position can primarily be performed on a telecommute/hybrid basis
  • It is preferred that this person be based in the greater central Pennsylvania area
  • Occasional travel to other IBA offices, yard locations, training and pre-bid meetings
  • Additional customer-related travel may also be required



Essential Functions/Duties:



  • Lead and mentor direct reports
  • Collaborate with VP's and Regional Managers to identify revenue and backlog gaps.
  • Provide qualified opportunities that align with needed revenue and backlog for the region.
  • New customer development - Explore and recommend new customers in the region with a strategic plan to relevant VP and Regional Manager.
  • Existing customer development - Maintain a positive relationship and expand all lines of business possible.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities that align with the VTO.
  • Maintain customer data base through CRM management.
  • Assist operations in new initiatives or lines of business.
  • Explore and recommend diverse contractor partnerships in the region.
  • Explore and recommend vendors in the region.
  • Explore and recommend new markets in the region.
  • Assist with startup of new offices in the region.
  • Community and industry involvement including unions and NECA.
  • Assist with RFP responses based on regional knowledge and expertise as asked.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of Statements of Qualification as asked.
  • Maintain working knowledge of IB Abel capabilities.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of marketing materials.



Education, Skills, Experience:

Required:



  • An acceptable combination of education and/or work experience within the contractor industry (Electrical Utility preferred).
  • 10 to 15 years' experience in management/leadership roles in construction related businesses and industries.
  • 5 to 10 years' experience in customer facing position.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications with strong skills in Excel, Word, and MS Project.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to present acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorizations per the Federal I-9 requirement.
  • Valid Driver's License.


Desired:



  • An advanced degree in Business, Construction Management, or other related business discipline focused degree program from a two or four-year college, university, or technical school.
  • Experience in a position focused on development of new business opportunities.
