TITLE

Director, Student Success and Partnerships - Honors Programs

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for planning, developing and monitoring student engagement, enrichment, and development programming on and off campus for both honors programs. Responsibilities include cultivating and leveraging relations with internal departments and external partners of the programs, student success facilitation and reporting, marketing, and promotion of programs, assistance with external funding (grants and fundraising) initiatives, and specific managerial decisions made in the absence of the Executive Director or in his/her stead. Work is performed under minimal supervision and performance is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Executive Director, Honors Programs

Supervises: Clerical Staff & Student Assistants; Coordinator, Strategic Programs and Initiatives as needed

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:



  • Plans, develops and monitors student engagement and development programming for both honors programs.
  • Oversees setting and monitoring annual honors student programming budgets.
  • Coordinates existing programs and develops initiatives to strengthen them through strategic events, programming and collaborative partnerships.
  • Cultivates and leverages connections on campus and in the community for honors student service, research and professional development opportunities.
  • Represents the honors programs at public functions and on university committees.
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Communication to promote student success stories via web and published material.
  • Collaborates with Institutional Research and Data Management to track and provide reports to the Executive Director and Honors Advisory Council of major markers of student retention and success.
  • Provides expertise to guide staff through change that impacts services.
  • Initiates, develops, manages, and prioritizes projects in assigned areas to meet expected outcomes.
  • Makes budget decisions in consultation with the Associate Vice President of Undergraduate Studies and Academic Partnerships in the absence of the Executive Director.
  • Oversees ongoing collaboration between program and university resources (technology, library, Career Services, Enrollment Management, Registrar, Financial Aid, Alumni Relations).
  • Represents Office of Honors Programs at university functions in the absence of the Executive Director.
  • Facilitates opportunities for honors students to participate in scholarly activities, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
  • Assists Executive Director in identifying and developing talented students to put forward for prestigious scholarships and fellowships.
  • Assists Executive Director in developing grant proposals and advancement opportunities.
  • Develops and schedules honors curriculum each term to include recruiting and training Honors UNIV 1231 instructors.
  • Provides supplemental advising for honors students.
  • Services as Secondary point of contact for programs and components both external and internal.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES



  • Serves as advisor to honors student organizations student committees.
  • Performs other duties as requested.


EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in appropriate field preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Ten years of progressive experience in honors education to include experience with honors advising, curriculum, and select aspects of program management. An advanced degree may substitute for years of experience required on a year-for-year basis.

REQUIREMENT

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - The following are essential:



  • Extensive knowledge of honors programs, curricula, recruitment, marketing, and development.
  • Extensive knowledge of honors education trends locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Knowledge of various academic and student service components in a higher education setting.
  • Extensive knowledge with and knowledge of honors programming and special initiatives (e.g., travel abroad, housing, learning communities).
  • Computer software skills including MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Datatel, Colleague, Web-based software and DARS.
  • Ability to coordinate work with other employees, providing direct instruction or supervision as assigned.
  • Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.
  • Ability to represent the department and University in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email.
