What You'll Do As an Engineer II, you'll independently apply standard design engineering techniques on small projects or selected segments of larger work-owning coordination, analyses, and documentation while helping keep deliverables on schedule, on budget, and aligned with client and code requirements.
- Assume responsible charge for projects within your experience and expertise; serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) on assigned work.
- Develop design approaches and concepts with conceptual input/oversight from senior technical staff; perform studies and design analyses using industry software.
- Coordinate designs with other disciplines to determine equipment needs, develop operating procedures, and provide technical information for sequences of operation.
- Attend meetings with owners, clients, and architects; document decisions, risks, and action items.
- Evaluate work of designers/EITs and provide feedback and corrections; review work for technical accuracy prior to final QA/QC.
- Lead or participate in jobsite visits to monitor progress and observe installed construction; comment based on specifications, owner expectations, and codes.
- Coordinate with local authorities, utilities, and municipalities to incorporate construction and government standards.
- Identify model/drawing collisions and drive timely resolution with design staff; perform/oversee clash detection workflows.
- Develop the discipline manhour budget and workplan; track progress to schedule/budget and provide updates to the project manager.
- Review shop drawings and submittals; respond to contractor and supplier questions during bid and construction.
- Assist with preparation and implementation of proactive QA/QC plans; contribute to technical documentation, proposals, and client presentations.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and code changes; participate in professional organizations to enhance SSR's technical reputation.
- Assist in training, mentoring, and developmental guidance of engineers, designers, and EITs; may provide input during employee reviews.
- When requested, assist the Project Manager in facilitating selected project duties.
Who We're Looking For Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college with four years applicable experience in discipline design and analysis
- Registered Professional Engineer
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of engineering theories and methodologies; proficiency with industry software (Revit and AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of disciplinespecific tools (e.g., Trace700, SKM); drafting/design procedures, standards, and specifications.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations; ability to read drawings and coordinate multidiscipline inputs.
- Strong technical writing and written communication; speech clarity and interpersonal collaboration.
- Detailoriented with sound judgment and decisionmaking; strong comprehension and followthrough on direction and feedback.
