General Summary of Position Maintains appropriate laboratory operations. Secures staffing, maintains policy and procedural protocols, and resolves problems. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Supervises responsible section of the lab on designated shift, ensuring adequate staffing and appropriate workload management. Prepares work schedules and evaluates personnel performance. Directs, controls and implements special projects as assigned. Communicates status, issues and other pertinent information to the Section Manager and other Supervisors (as appropriate) on a continual basis. Reviews daily activity reports appropriate to Section supervised. Monitors collection, identification, transport and storage of laboratory specimens. Resolves problems arising between the laboratory and physicians, nursing and other ancillary services. Conducts training sessions for laboratory personnel regarding policies and procedures. Performs duties and responsibilities of subordinate personnel in response to workload and/or staffing demands. CUSTOM.PRIMARY.DUTIES.RESPONSIBILITIES.ADDENDUM Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field required or Master's degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field required or Doctoral degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field required or Doctoral degree in Medicine required Experience 1-2 years of progressively more responsible clinical laboratory experience for applicants with a Bachelor's degree required or 1-2 years of clinical laboratory experience for applicants with a M.D degree, or Master's or PhD degree required Licenses and Certifications ASCP - American Society of Clinical Pathologist certification for Bachelor's degree holders who supervise technical staff. required The ASCP certification requirement is waived for applicants who supervise non-technical staff only, or those with a M.D degree, or with a Master's or PhD degree. required This position has a hiring range of $87,318 - $157,289
