Overview

This role will focus on the procurement of steel and steel components for the U.S. market, requiring deep expertise in steel sourcing, deep understanding of cost drivers, pricing strategies, and global supply chain management. The successful candidate will have extensive experience navigating U.S. and international steel markets, including managing the complexities of trade regulations, tariffs, and antidumping duties. The ability to build and maintain relationships with steel mills, service centers, and key suppliers while ensuring compliance with import/export regulations is critical. Experience with cost modeling, supply-demand forecasting, and risk mitigation strategies in the steel industry is highly preferred.



Responsibilities

The Sr. Sourcing Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive Procurement Strategies that support both the Regional and Global objectives of ProDriven and its associated businesses. Independently, and in collaboration with other key stakeholders this position will oversee the deployment of category, contract and other advanced sourcing methodologies to manage mutual expectations and relationships, control risk and cost to the extent feasible, and contribute to organizational profitability/success. Additionally, this role is responsible for fostering and developing solid supplier relationships with the main objective to establish collaboration between the supply base and ProDriven. This individual will provide leadership in the development and deployment of best-in-class Procurement Practices across the assigned areas of responsibility. This position will play a key role in developing and mentoring a team of high performing Procurement professionals that support the region. The successful candidate will be a visionary procurement leader and change agent who will assist in the implementation of a global procurement strategy to frame the company's practices, policies, priorities and approaches to how the organization procures materials and services and raises its performance level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    In conjunction with other key stakeholders, evaluate procurement opportunities. Develops and executes procurement strategies that take advantage of global strengths in areas of cost, engineering and transportation logistics. Builds strategic alliances with key supply partners
  • Understand business strategy and translates it into technical objectives with a concrete plan of action down to the procurement / sourcing strategy level.
  • Direct the New Product Development (NPD) buying teams to ensure project targets (cost, quality & schedule) are attained.
  • Direct overall Total Cost Alignment (TCA) activities to achieve annual cost savings targets..
  • Lead cross-functional project team(s) in the execution of sourcing initiatives, cost reduction & productivity projects.
  • Assess existing procurement systems & procedures for insight and opportunities for potential improvement; develops a thorough understanding of what the company buys, what is required and the strategic supplier alliances that have been formed to drive the execution of those goals
  • Anticipate and plan for key supplier problems that could affect project deliverables or on-going supply to the manufacturing plants
  • Increase customer leverage and buying power through supporting supplier rationalization activities; creating a more competitive negotiating environment to obtain purchase cost savings.
  • Build and maintain successful and effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understand, follow and ensure conformance to Quality Management System
  • Other Duties that are reasonably associated with the above essential functions of the job


Qualifications

Experience & Education:

Requires a bachelor's degree in a technical field, Business Administration, Finance, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or work experience will be considered. A master's degree in business administration or other evidence of substantial business knowledge, such as the attainment of Certified Purchasing Management (CPM) certification is highly desirable.

At least 5 years of progressive experience in managing and/or leading Procurement teams in a large manufacturing company are required. Comprehensive professional experience with 10 or more years of Procurement experience is desirable with a successful track record of delivering results

Solid Subject matter expertise on Steel & Derivatives sourcing is a must.

Key Competencies:

  • Business principles and techniques of administration, organization, and procurement management. These include a general knowledge of procurement and cost analysis, and current business trends and developments in domestic and international sourcing.
  • Experience with managing progressive procurement functions.
  • Proven skills in leadership and advocacy to improve the sourcing and procurement performance of the business

  • Relationship building with constituents, internal staff, logistical and procurement support sources

  • Comprehend and effectively communicate complex, technical issues and subjects relating to procurement and sourcing; to a variety of audiences, including suppliers, peers, and senior management

  • Devise optimal allocation of resources/technology with a strategic focus on achieving business objectives and growth.

Salary Range:

$110,000 - $160,000
