Job Summary: As a key partner to the Human Resources team, this role is responsible for coordinating engagement and onboarding activities. The HR Coordinator is instrumental in supporting our HR functions and ensuring a positive workplace culture that aligns with our mission of providing Fun & Games like no place else. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead by example.
- Responsible for maintaining a high degree of hospitality, and a positive, professional demeanor, at all times.
- Creates high levels of morale, fosters teamwork, inspires collaboration, and provides suggestions for growth to management.
- Responsible for coordinating and executing onboarding activities for new hires and re-hires.
- Prepare and process all relevant employment paperwork to ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws including but not limited to verifying I-9 documentation.
- Assist in the planning and execution of team member engagement activities and team building events to include social and volunteer events.
- Collaborate with HR team and other leaders to develop and deploy internal communications and an engagement strategy that cultivates a positive, open, and innovative culture.
- Responsible for coordinating team member rewards and recognition programs to include Work Tango, Team Member of the Month, Leadership Award, Anniversary Awards, etc.
- Assist with coordinating the Volunteer Group Fundraising Program. Assist with maintaining all information on team member posting areas, and the team member communication portal.
- Assists in maintaining the proxy card system and provide team members the appropriate access on or before their first day.
- Maintain required documents and electronic records for team members.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of all Human Resources information, files, and records.
- Assist Talent Acquisition in recruiting, screening, scheduling and interviewing for all Canterbury Park positions.
- Work on special projects within the human resources department.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of HR or related experience OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved.
- Requires excellent interpersonal skills to include written and verbal communication, and internal and external customer service skills.
- Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Requires strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint).
- Ability to self-motivate/direct as well as motivate team to achieve department objectives.
- Canterbury Park conducts pre-employment screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history.
- Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification, Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field is desirable.
- Previous experience working in the hospitality/gaming industry a plus.
- Experience working in UKG and/or Ultimate Software HCM systems.
- Previous experience with event organization and scheduling.
