Ketjen Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Albemarle Corporation, is seeking a R&T Chemist. The position will be based out of the Pasadena, TX site.

The primary responsibility of this position is to support the curative products of the PCS group. The Ethacure curative products are used as curing agents in epoxy and polyurethane applications. In this position, the incumbent will need to have knowledge of epoxy and polyurethane formulations and applications. In addition to application knowledge, a good foundation in chemistry is needed to interface with analytical and the plant on chemistry matters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide applications support to customers to help them use our curatives in their end use markets.
  • Develop formulations to maximize the performance of our curatives.
  • Have the courage to explore new applications and push for the growth of our curatives in new markets.
  • Provide technical support for our customers for product quality issues as they arise.
  • Work transparently with our plants to ensure the quality of our curatives meets the customer needs. This will include setting up specs and coordinating method development.
  • Collaborate with the plant engineers, providing chemistry support on any process issues.
  • Make presentations to customers and distributors. Present papers at technical conferences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related disciplines from an accredited university.
  • Sense of curiosity to help define new applications.
  • Good laboratory techniques with a caring attitude to provide a safe and productive environment.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and networking skills.
  • Initiative, creativity, and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
