JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Eberly College of Science, Department of Physics at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking to fill one postdoctoral scholar position in computational astrophysics.

The successful candidate will lead the implementation of new features in the AthenaK code, in collaboration with Dr. David Radice (Penn State) and Dr. Jim Stone (IAS), and they will participate to the research program led by the Penn State numerical relativity group. There will also be ample opportunity to collaborate with other members of the Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos, which includes, among others, Dr. Abhay Ashtekar, Dr. Eugenio Bianchi, Dr. Martin Bojowald, Dr. Chad Hanna, Dr. Sarah Shandera, and Dr. B.S. Sathyaprakash. This position requires a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Physics, Mathematics, or a closely related field.

This is a term position funded for two years with the possibility of a one-year extension. The appointment includes a competitive salary, full benefits, and an annual research and travel fund. Applicants should have a Ph.D.in Physics, Astronomy, Mathematics, or a closely related field prior to the start date.
