We are hiring an experienced Compliance Counsel within Ericsson's Compliance Office, which is responsible for developing and implementing a best-in-class compliance program, fostering a culture of ethics and integrity, ensuring that Ericsson's Code of Business Ethics is followed, and identifying, preventing and mitigating misconduct. Ericsson's Compliance Office is global, and supports Ericsson's nearly 100,000 employees and operations in approximately 180 countries.
The holder of this role will help implement the Company's Ethics & Compliance strategy and program, assisting in identifying risks and addressing and mitigating those risks, and assisting in responding to fast-moving developments. The holder of this role will coordinate closely with other members of the Compliance Office and other Ericsson functions.
This a hybrid position (in office and remote) in Washington, DC; other locations near a major Ericsson office in the U.S. will be considered.
What you will do:
- Implement ethics and compliance strategy and operations in consultation with other Compliance Office members and stakeholders.
- Provide legal advice on internal Compliance Office policies and assist in drafting guidance documents, presentations, and other compliance materials.
- Support by identifying areas for improved efficiency, simplification, digitalization and automation, ensuring a cohesive, well-functioning program.
- Stay current on emerging issues, the risk landscape, and evolving regulatory expectations with respect to compliance programs and provide practical advice about strategy, implementation and operations in response to new developments.
- Assist in responding to fast-moving developments and compliance problems, often requiring a multi-faceted solution and collaboration across a matrixed organization in time-sensitive situations.
- Contribute to compliance initiatives across a variety of compliance program hallmarks, such as third party management, risk assessments, policies and programs, training and communications, and monitoring and testing
- Gather and analyze data to look for patterns and trends; use data to make data-driven, risk based decisions and to improve the compliance programs, and to present about risks to stakeholders.
- Coordinate support within the Compliance Office of business areas, market areas, and other functions; collaborate with colleagues in Legal, the People Function, Corporate Audit, Internal Controls, and others.
- Give legal advice in connection with compliance matters, particularly involving application of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, anti-terrorism laws, federal government contracting, and in collaboration with colleagues handling anti-money laundering, international trade, antitrust, national security, and human rights matters.
- Apply sound legal judgment to address gray areas and interpret and apply the law.
- Manage outside counsel and other external service providers as needed, overseeing the scope of work, budget, staffing, and tasks.
- Prepare reports and presentations for a variety of audiences about the Ethics & Compliance program.
- Act with integrity, objectivity and fairness.
You will bring:
- A law degree from an accredited law school and admission and good standing in a state bar (or equivalent outside of the U.S.)
- 8+ years of experience handling compliance matters and supporting a compliance program
- Experience handling matters under the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other anti-corruption laws; additional experience handling anti-money laundering, export controls and sanctions, antitrust, human rights, federal government contracting, national security issues are preferred
- Experience in-house at a multi-national company or at a law firm advising multi-national businesses; U.S. government experience is a plus
- Fluency in English
- Strong interpersonal, communication, writing and presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- The ability to independently handle and lead sophisticated matters, as well as manage multiple matters at one time
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about scoping, handling, and resolving complex problems; success in driving projects to completion
- Comfort with ambiguity and willingness to dive in and learn new subject matters and respond to new problems
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others across an organization and achieve goals
- Skills to excel in fast-moving, high-pressure situations
- An ability and willingness to work across international time zones

Your Pay
The salary range for this position is listed below. The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
Range: $230,000 - $260,000
Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit's objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your Financial Security
We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. Ericsson's 401(k) plan offers an automatic 3% company contribution and up to a 4% company match, leading to a maximum company contribution of 7% annually. Employees will also receive company paid basic life and accidental death and dismemberment coverage and paid company short-term and long-term disability benefits. Employees also have the option to participate in Ericsson's Stock Purchase Plan.
Your Time
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided up to 40 days of paid time off per year, including 15 days of accrued annual vacation, 3 personal days, 11 paid holidays, 10 sick days, and 1 volunteer day. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee's start date. Those with additional vacation time at the end of the year may sell one week of vacation, equal to a week of pay. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of maternity/medical leave, 6 weeks of paternity or adoption leave at 100% of pay, and medical leave at 100% or 66 2/3% of pay, based on length of service.
